Comments Thread For: Anthony Ogogo Likely To Remain in The Amateur Ranks

Anthony Ogogo's dream of an Olympic boxing gold medal came to an end as he was beaten 16-9 by Brazil's Esquiva Falcao in their middleweight semi-final, and was forced to settle for bronze.

The first two rounds were cagey, nervous affairs, with the pair locked together at 3-3 after opening three minutes and continuing to grapple long into the second, with few clear punches landed by either fighter.

This says nothing about whether he will stay on as an amateur. "Boxing Clever"?
    Boxing Moron more like it.

I don't rate Ogogo, never understood all the attention he gets as he's not that good. Couldn't see him making any waves in the professional ranks as his style is very much suited to the amateur games.

I thought he was the least impressive out of the British team.

Don't the amateurs in the development earn about 60K a year?

He shouldn't turn over. That's good money! But I'd imagine there is a Brit out there who is better than Anthony.

He's incredibly average, only in the GB team because of his marketing abilities, on form and ability Callum Smith should have bad the middleweight spot but they moved him up to light heavy where he was robbed in the final of the final qualifying tournament.

Selby, Campbell, Joshua and most of all Freddie Evans will have the best careers, very impressed with Evans.
