Only because of the sheer amount of fights he's had. 9 fights at 154 and he really hasn't done much more than Cotto's 4 fights. I'd rather take a competitive loss to Floyd than beat on a shot-to-pieces Mosley.
Cotto did not fight Floyd because he is such a brave champion. He fought him because Floyd is a huge payday. Canelo would fight Floyd in a heartbeat if offered the fight. Even the worst champions will fight Floyd. As far as being competitive with Floyd, no judge gave Cotto more than 3 rounds.
gamboa would win at this point although he has several flash knockdowns he always comes on strong and wins. Broner has not experienced this adversity yet.He was truly tested against ponce de leon and I had that fight roughly a draw although I wouldn't argue with 7 rounds to 5 ponce de leon winning. I feel it was a great decision for boxing however because broner's future would not have been as bright and boxing future would not be as a result. It would be a prudent decision for broner to keep golden boy as his promoter however if he truly wants to master his defense he should go to jeff maywheather, better yet james toney who is also from the midwest and is the greatest at the arm bar, shoulder roll, counter right hand ect. At this point in his career toney would do anything for a buck.Toney comes off as a ****y fool however he just wants to be relevant and this is a perfect way to stay relevant in boxing, also he could eat all the saterated fat he wants lol
I don't c Canelo beating Cotto, he hasn't face anyone on that level and to me he is not prepare mentally neither his boxing skills are there yet, who he has fought that could make you think he will stay with Cotto? Hatton, Gomez, Cintron, old Mosley and all the others will not prepare you for a guy like Cotto, just my opinion.
I gotta go with Canelo/Cotto. Some of these guys just get so hyped up, get put into BS vacant title fights, end up winning, and are called World Champs with ever having fought world class opposition. I'd just like to see Canelo tested, to see if he really is world class. I know Broner also has something to prove and was given a title, but just have to tune in anytime Cotto fights. So yeah, both good fights but, I prefer Canelo/Cotto.

Cotto fought Floyd because it was a good look for his Career and also to add an elite fighter to his resume. yes, everyone knows Floyd is a great payday but Cotto is not money hungry!. He sells out The Garden every time he fights there and does Outstanding PPV numbers. Oh and we all know the Judges were being bias because Money May is the hometown favorite. Scores would've been different had the fight happen @ The Garden.
