Comments Thread For: Youngest In Charge: Claressa Shields Brings Home Gold

By Jake Donovan - If there was a lesson learned by the U.S. Olympic boxing team this year, it was to never send a man to do a woman's job.

In the event of the middleweight finals, the moral of the story was that whatever a woman can do, a girl can do better.

Claressa Shields proved to be far more than your average American teenager. The 17-year old will soon return to high school for her senior year. What a tale she will have to tell for her first day of school, as the American middleweight took home Olympic Gold with a 19-12 win over Russia's Nadevda Torlopova. [Click Here To Read More]

Congratulations to Claressa. She fought hard and did what she had to to bring home the gold. I hope this wakes up the US Olympic Committee and realize we need a better boxing program with more time for the fighters to train and prepare.

The men's team was a huge disappointment but the women salvaged a little bit of pride for USA Boxing.

          Great job, Claressa Shields.
