    Shawn Estrada

Anyone seen this kid? Been a pro four years now and it's about time he stepped up. But does he have it or is he another Tyrone Brunson?

Would love to hear the views of anyone with knowledge on him.

I went to the Ward/Abraham weigh-in on a day off last year and Estrada was there and he was massively overweight for his fight. He's a pretty big dude as it is, he looked almost like a cruiser weight but the fight was at SMW.....then the next time time I saw him was on ESPN and he was even more overweight, I mean like almost 20 pounds from super middleweight which was his normal division.....he just tried to walk thru the other poor guy who was terribly overmatched but he showed heart and made the final bell IIRC.

I've seen him on tv before all of this but was never really impressed much by his skills but he's not bad, I didn't know he lacked professionalism until lately so it will probably take someone who has seen him in person lately ot know how big he is now. he doesnt have the power or speed to be that heavy

I've seen him fight a few times and quite frankly, I don't see him going very far. For someone who had a good amateur career, he sure as hell doesn't look like it. He's very wild and wide with his punches. He's fought nothing but tomato cans. Once he steps up and fights someone that's at least in the top 25, I think he'll lose, and lose very badly. Just my opinion though.

Thanks Chaps. Respect to you both.

Just had a look at his weights on Boxrec & you're right. He went from 163 in November 2010 to 192 in February 2012. Someone needs a kick up the arse.

I really doubt he can still make Supermiddle without losing 'something'. Sounds like a move up to Lightheavy is in order.

he supposedly came in that heavy because he was coming of an injury, but thats no excuse that fight should have been canceled. Very embarrassing, don't know how the other fighter promoter allowed the fight to go on.
