Evander Holyfield vs Archie Moore -- 190 pounds

Sadly the fantasy fight section never gets any traffic outside of maybe 4 people who just post the same **** over and over and over...so I'm posting this here suckas.

Holyfield very well may be the greatest Cruiserweight ever in that divisions young life, and pretty much everyone knows the legacy of Old Mongoose.

I'm talkin about the late 40's - mid 50's Archie here (although he really didn't reach 190 until late 50's I believe)...against the 1987-88 Holyfield who beat Qawi and De Leon.

Since Holyfield was such a tough bastard I'd take him to outlast Moore in a tactical slugfest, knocking out Moore with an accumulation of punches in the 13th round of 15.

    Discuss this classic matchup.

LMAO, well you got 5 replies.
Not very familiar with Moore other than what history tell us.
How do you feel a prime Cruiserweight Holyfield would have done against Toney? He would have KTFO Toney, IMO.

if we are talking about the young Holy who fought Qawi , then I think its a barn burner. Archie would give him fits all night. Would be a great matchup. I think Holy would win a close decision but Archie Moore would have done some damage as well. Tough fight, alot of punches aand the more active Holy would get the nod in a close one.

Well I believe Holyfield would have beaten him, but its hard for me to judge how because Toney is one of the all around toughest bastards ever to fight and hes never been stopped.

I see Holyfield just continuously beating on Toney through the first 8 rounds (Holy at lower weights was a great accumulation puncher and was quite strong). James would hit Evander a lot with punches that he's never seen before...countering him with sharp right hands. Both men possess a great right hand counter off their heel when backing up. Holy would put effective pressure on James which James would like, but it would take a lot out of James as well. They'd split 8 close rounds.

The mid-late rounds would change a bit and turn more tactical...Toney would start to lose more rounds here and Evanders accumulation of punches would start to mount on James. Evander would begin to slow as well. Rounds 9-12 would go to Holy 3-1.

The late rounds or championship rounds would decide the fight but would see Evander just grinding down James and his sheer physicality would probably get his right hands through Toneys guard. I think he'd hurt James (I can't believe I'm saying this) with a good right left combo in the 14th round. Round 15 would be a great round seeing Holyfield and James trading bombs until the bell...Holyfield getting the better of the exchanges with his advantage in power, hurting James again and almost putting him down. James wins 13, Holyfield wins 14 and 15.

I'd say Holyfield UD15 Toney: 9-6 on all cards.

I gotta pick Holyfield here. Holyfield would be much better technically and his solid, solid chin would negate Moore's awesome power for long enough to get him a decision win. My opinion of course, but I really couldn't see Holyfield dropping a decision to Moore.

I have never seen Moore fight so I have no say in this.

                    I'm glad you've formulated a brilliant argument...

On a serious note... I think at 190 Holyfield wins. He's bigger and stronger. Archie's prime in my opinion was fighting at around 180. Archie's best qualities in many aspects is the fact that he had balls of steal. Against an opponent in holyfield whose balls are just as hard, he wont be able to use that to his advantage. I think the Real Deal would win by a late round T/KO.
