Comments Thread For: Rau'shee Warren Lost Contact Lenses, Eye Pro Run

LONDON - With his contact lenses lying somewhere across the ring, American flyweight Rau'shee Warren trudged out of the London Games for the professional ranks on Friday with the ignominy of an eight-year Olympic losing streak.

The 25-year-old, the first American boxer to compete in three Olympics, lost a narrow decision 19-18 to Nordine Oubaali of France, who moved on to the quarter-finals and one victory away from securing at least a bronze.

After first round losses at the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Games, defeat was tough to take for the 2007 world champion.

Interested to see how smooth his transition to the pros is. Especially considering he already in his mid 20's.

C'mon Raushee, nobody wants to hear a lame excuse about your contacts falling out or some crap...

If you lose, you lose, end of story...wasn't like the Errol Spence fight...

Raushee isn't in a popular division but I could see him making noise in the pros...those hands of his will draw people...

The instructions to look for one punch at a time were pretty ******. Especially in the Oympics, in a 3 round fight.

I barely know warren, so I dont care to take up for him, but his excuse seems legit. He doesnt seem like he's making an excuse. He has a great explanation, and watching that fight, he couldnt land anything. Everytime he threw his shots, he threw them an inch to late, or too early. I can see him having sight problems. And again, I dont care to take up for the kid, but I felt something was off with his accuracy and timing and it seemed like he was missing on purpose.

Antonio Tarver did fairly well and he started his career in his late 20's. As well as Ivan Calderon. Hopkins, a future HOF'er started in his mid 20's (though he wasn't an olympian).

so... how exactly does he avoid losing the contact lenses in a pro fight if it "always happens in training"?

dout he wpoould've made it 2 the finals but as a pro, he'll b signed have a lot of ezy wins early on @ 115 then have trouble as his competition gets better...from 115up 2 118 is some of the best in boxing & he's not that good...

i know he really wanted that gold medal, but he really should have gone pro after 08. so much wasted time for a guy with so much ability. but i guess that's what he wanted.
