I would love to kno why everybody on here thinks a fighter will beat floyd but when he wins and easily at that, they somehow weren't a risk. Thats what makes the whole "floyd ducks" argument so weak. Lets forget the undefeated record for a min and look at the fights. How can a man be in the fight game for 16 years and be in the p4p top 10 for 14 of them without taking risky fights? if thats possible why isnt Chavez jr #1 p4p in the world? Or Canelo? Why isnt broner at least in the top 10 by now? Arent they popular? Is their competition good? What kind of risks are they taking compared to Mayweather?
If they announced an opponent for Floyd tomorrow 1/3 of this forum would swear on everything green and holy that ___x fighter would beat Floyd. That Floyd has bitten off more than he can chew. About time Floyd fights such and such. Does that not make said fighter a risky fight then? This is boxing ladies and gents and ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN ON ANY GIVEN NIGHT. Zab never seen that punch from Tzu comming. Rios didnt expect to get beat da hell up by Abril. Garcia was supposed to be a no risk fight for Khans Crowning. Ali was supposed to beat Norton. Who da hell was Buster Douglas? 90% of people KNEW Tito would destroy Hopkins. A Journey Man vs Super Zab? Please! 91 fights in for Chavez, who knew? Timothy Head Monster Junior WW Bradley vs FOTD Pacquiao? GTFOH and so on and so forth. But we've seen the results
Fact of the matter is that in 43 fights he has won titles in 5 different weight classes. The lineal Champ in 3 of them. He right now is holding WW and JMW titles at the same time. Has had 22 world title fights. Has fought every type style of fighter ranging from tall, to short, to pressure, to southpaw, to counter puncher, bigger than him, hell 2 fighters smaller than him and has dominated. Who else in this era has done that? The only fighter that ever gave this man trouble in a fight he re matched in his very next fight. He didnt run from the risk, he didnt duck the risk of a man that some thought he lost to. He didnt wait years before he stepped into those waters again. He fought him again immediately to prove the first encounter was no fluke and that he was the best. One poster asked when was the last time that Floyd fought someone who wasnt ranked. I'll ask you a better question "when was the last time Floyd fought someone who wasnt in the top 3 in any rankings?" I'll answer for you Sharmba Mitchell and that was 8 fights ago. He is 35 now, undefeated, #1 in the world, makes the most money and it all could come crashing down with a single loss. Every fight he takes is a risky one.
they say there was an now infamous "hit list" that floyd had bacc in 09 when he came bacc. Names included, Marquez, Mosley, Ortiz, Cotto, and Pac.....4 down 1 to go.
