What will it take for people to stop taking Sam Peter seriously?

The guy's got a cracking set of chops on him, and considering the Wlad bout was his first twelve-rounder then I don't think his stamina was THAT bad, by a long way. But his punch (which has been compared to Tyson and Foreman's by some) has only been proven against third tier fighters. (Okay, it hurt Wlad who is first tier, but I really don't need to go into that, do I?)

To be perfectly frank I think he's a bit of a two-dimensional slob who's reputation seems to reside on the smoke and mirrors of his punching power and his representation in the media as a Post-Colonial Other. The boxing press are preying on this so much - look at this month's "Global Warfare" - that he'll soon be dressed up in a Zulu outfit with sell lines like "From Darkest Africa... he's here to tear apart our great white hope".

Sorry, but... he's just not good enough.

i think worst case for Sam Peter would be go get paired with a boxer/puncher who is solid but no longer well regarded...

monte barrett comes to mind as someone who could outbox peter and possibly stay away for 12 rounds. imagine what that would do to peters rep. he could beat a lot better fighters, but he is definately susceptible to these mediocre power, highly skilled guys

peter is green and young, he stepped upp to early to fight wlad, and the chances where good that he could have koed wlad.

time will tel dude needs to practice his skills, stamina a get little lighter.

with a little more experience he will be a force due to his chin and stamina

the wlad fight made consider peter as a real threat....

before that i thought he was going to get beaten and would be a top 15 fringe guy.

last time I checked he is not some 30-38year old....the man is young...powerful...great chin...determined...rough...a breath of fresh air to the division...

I guess we should hang onto Ruiz for the rest of our lives huh?

No need to go to extremes... that's like saying if you don't like having your fingers trapped in a doorway you must like a kick in the nuts.

Considering he never even fought Vitali that would be pretty hard...

Peter is still being ducked by top contenders. That's ok, his day will come, and all of a sudden most of the contenders are going to be ducking the champ!
