Comments Thread For: Olympic Boxing Round of 16 Results - Bantamweight

By Jake Donovan - Day Five of Olympic boxing competition saw the action move to the Round of 16.

Unfortunately for Team USA, what wasn’t seen was a return to its winning ways.

Joseph Diaz Jr. was valiant in defeat, as the 19-year old fell short to top-seed Lazaro Alvarez of Cuba by a score of 21-15. The scoring was a bit strange, but ultimately the right call as Alvarez deserved the nod regardless of the final margin.

Perhaps the absolutely truest statement I've read on these boards in a long time. Green K.

yes Olympic scoring sucks...but Lazaro Alvarez won that fight, I really did not see any controversy but you have a few people trying to scream "ROBBERY"

Put your PRIDE ASIDE AMERICA! Ask for some help with your boxing Program, you can bring in guys from other countries to help you fix this thing as Teddy Atlas suggested but they won't because of PRIDE...

it is nothing wrong with the Athletes, to me it just looks like America Boxers don't understand how Olympic Boxing and how scoring works and also I have seen a lot of WILDNESS from American Fighters which to me is a sign of poor coaching and training
