Not sure if anyone already posted this but apparently for the 2016 games they're going to a 10 pt. must system, removing headgear, and allowing professionals to compete in Olympic boxing.
I don't want to see pro's compete.

Pro boxers would bring more revenue to the Olympic games but would in turn further denigrate the Olympic Spirit.

If amateur boxers didn't have the promise of the Olympics to reward their hark work in the gym, a lot of young fighters wouldn't bother stepping into the gym in the first place. The Olympics are the pinnacle of the amateur game, and removing it would hurt boxing dearly.
For instance, Amir Khan inspired a generation of British boxers because he went from being just a lad from Bolton, to Olympic silver medallist. An already established pro boxer winning Olympic silver wouldn't have the same effect.
