Also, your hero Floyd, is OK with an older version of Martinez to come down to 154 and there is a video of him saying OK to 150lbs. Like you said about Manny fighting the champ, why can't Floyd fight the champ at the 160 limit if you expect Manny to do the same?

So who is delusional? You Floyd fans want it both ways .... its OK when Floyd says OK to a CW but Manny its a bad thing ..... cool story but I'm NOT buying it!

Catchweight fights are fine if its a genuine catchweight fight that the fans agree with. I thought Pacquiao would beat Cottos ass at 147, but someone thought otherwise.

Don't lump me in with the Floyd fanatics. I love Pacquiao as a fighter, and I respect him. If I talk negative about Pacquiao, its usually towards Pacquiao fanatics who think that Pacquiao is God.

Second, in that video, they asked Floyd about a fight with Serg...BEFORE Floyd fought Cotto, lmao. And finally if Floyd fights Serg at any weight lower than 154, I as well as you and many other fans would crucify Floyd for doing that. But until it happens, you're just blowing hot air.

    • does anybody actually think that the 145 lb contracted weight of the cotto - pacquiao fight had anything to do with the outcome?

Don't say it wouldn't have mattered after the fact if Pacquiao had fought Cotto at 145, 146, or 147...he would've beaten him anyway. They fought at a contracted weight of 145 because Cotto wanted a pay day, and imo Cotto had no reserves to fall back on. If two lbs didn't make a difference like you say then Pacquiao would've fought Cotto at 147.
Like I said clearly .... "looking back at it, it was clear as day" .... only haters would say differently .... but with the fight ahead of them, the questions were clearly there. Floyd Sr said it in the pre-fight interview and Post-fight interview that Cotto was big and strong.

I said from way back that it would have been better to have fought at 147 but they didn't ..... but I was OK with 145 since Manny moving up and like you just said, Manny beat up an Oscar that hadn't fought at 145 in a while and we knew from his coach that "Oscar couldn't pull the trigger no more" and that was the case with the Floyd vs OScar too .... and I agree

So Cotto was really the first true WW that Manny was facing.

but then don't come back to say but Manny already fought at 147 because you are shooting yourself down.

          • team dawson actually proposed a catch weight of 170... but ward turned it down... so technically, ward is draining dawson 9 lbs...

See, you did it again. Martinez is the 160lbs champ. Cotto was the 147lbs champ.

You brought up the fact that since Cotto was the champ that Manny shouldn't be asking Cotto to come down at a CW .... but you are OK with the 160lbs champ coming down to 154?

                Do the math:
                - Cotto, who was young, went down 1lb from his previous fight.
                - Martinez, who will be at least 38 if and when he fights Floyd, would have to come down 4-6lbs to fight Floyd at 154.

For me, the deciding factor is more of "is it a fair deal" ..... not if they did or didn't have a belt because at the end of the day, I want to see a good fight. A CW is fine when its required to get the fight on but if we know clearly that it gives one of the opponents the edge then I don't like it.

What is as clear as day is that you dont know what your talking about , you talk about 2 lbs like its butter , if that 2 lbs is under Cottos lowest point it will be torture to get it off , its not done over night its done over weeks of training at a lower mass , he is already on point to make 147 , its another 2 lbs on top of that standard that he has to do anyway , training to make weight is not training to be your best , any fighter will tell you the same thing , your an internet expert that dont know sheeeeeet about weight and what it really means , if it ment nothing Manny would not DEMAND it , he does because the the brains of Team Pac knows it will effect Cotto , and Oscar and Margo ,,,, Manny could not beat any of those guys at their right weight that is why he REFUSES to fight them without the CW bulldust , you think a 26 ft ring for Margo was by accident ,

You fanboys need to drop the hype swallowing and learn a bit about boxing , Manny has been been matched very well , he should have taken Mosleys offer of 144 , Pac would have KOed him and you would be singing superman lol , instead each fight a fighter is healthy Manny flounders , gee I hope they fight , Floyd will schooooooooooooooool him so bad , and always would have !

It's a critical element of the fight. Weight-draining can be the sole factor which determines what level of performance a boxer is able to output. Essentially, a weight-drained fighter enters the ring with a predetermined physical disadvantage.
