What's Worse: Pacquiao draining Cotto by 2 lbs, Or Ward draining Dawson by 7 lbs?

  • My point is that it is a fight by fight thing. You'll get that feeling that a fighter may feel weakened. It's when you aren't even the champion and you're negotiating the weight that the champion won his belt at.

I have no problem with the Cotto cw, it was not an "exotic" cw (PW SM, Cotto Marg 2), it was your regular smaller guy moving up cw. Extra allowance for having moved up a record 6 times without one. I also didn't see anything that tells me Cotto weight played a material role. Pac was doing something you probably gave him no chance of doing.

Put it this way, someone determined to find a way to discredit Pac's Cotto win can easily do the same for Ward Dawson, and double for PWill SM 2, Cotto Marg 2.

The Marg cw belt was totally bogus, and if it was up to me, strike it from the history books, with Mares Morel etc. It was still a good challenging fight for Pac, and fun to watch.

Since you were put on your place and trying to flip it I hope you don't question Cotto for being weakened if you don't question Williams' opponents.

Cotto even said he'd fight Pac at 145.

Here's a video of him saying it.

With Dawson we dont know if it will effect him the same until the fight , if he looks flat with no snap , tires quickly then it will be weight that caused it , ig he looks sharp dont tire and physically strong then it didnt effect him and he was inside his weight threshold , its not about the numbers , its the effects the numbers cause and everybody is different in how much they can loose before it hurts them .
Lets dispose of this one now.

Show me where he was referring to the Pac 145 fight. Like you said, the guy is a straight shooter, and at time he said he felt good at 145, weight not an issue, and post fight said he just couldn't see the punches coming.

Your quote is from way later, when Pac expressed interest in a Cotto fight if Cotto was willing to go below 150. Why would you trust the revisionist version?

Except I don't believe he was trying to find excuses years later for Pac, he was talking about his entire career below 154, when he had to drain every time. Now there's no drain, at the expense of being a tiny super welter, who has to ask for 150 catchweights and rehydrations clauses against one eyed bums from his weightclass!

You and your boy don't see my point. Boxing videos, boxrec its all there for the public. Hell, you aren't discovering **** lol. Catchweight fights happen. Imo Cotto was drained, Martinez wasn't. Now ball this childish answer to a post, and throw it in the garbage!

And you thought you were saying something lol.

What fight are you talking about? Martinez wasn't affected if that's who you're talking about.

I don't believe either guy was weakened, but it's the intent that counts, right?

And how badly do you have to be drained to not see the punches coming? To give up on winning by round 5, and go on an 18 minute run, mostly backwards and laterally?

From the gate there was big talk that Pacquiao and his camp wanted to weaken Cotto. I don't hear big talk about Ward weakening Dawson.

This is your fan su****ion test lol?

You're proving my point, Pac's catchweight offenses get a 3yr long ****storm, other guys cws (sometimes much worse) get a shrug.
