No, they were called Soviets, there is a big difference. When Ukraine was taken over by Russia, Ukrainians were called "malorussians" but that was a long time ago. Then Soviet Union was formed and everybody (including Kazakhs) were called Soviets. Trust me, I was born in Ukrain. Even though Ukrainian race is very very close to Russians, there are certain characteristics that Ukrainians have - for example black hair is predominant in Ukrainian race, as well as brown eyes. Even though they are all slavs, Russians tend to have more blond hair people and blue, green, or hazel eyes. These are minor differences but they do exist.

michael sprott has humbled many a europian contender which means he is decent but not even close to top but solid so virches should get some credit for a solid win he should have KO the guy though

Did any of you see the fight with sprott it was a robbery, sprott won the fight easily, How virches got the decision i will never know, but then again it was in Austria which is next to Germany so i shouldn't be to surprised.

virches is very slow and can be outboxed easily *****ko was outboxing him til he got caught late on, virches has got power in his right hand but hasn't got much else.

It was that bad a decision even the fans booed at the end and virches was the home fighter.

Absolutely no offence taken. It's pretty difficult to distinguish between the two. But at the same time, the whole slav group could be called one race - Polish, Chechs, Ukrainians, Russins, etc. There are, however, certain differences that separate them. But you are correct, it's all created by politics, mainly in the beginning of the century.
