Even with Tarver's positive test, I'd much rather have Tarver commentate. Flores blows

Seriously, can we get someone who AT LEAST accomplished something in the ring?

I don't care 4 Flores, he seems 2 speak down 2 his audience showinng how supposedly smart he is, any1 can read off the cards...he might aa well announce, though I like tarver, as Flores career in boxing is caught in cement, going nowhere ve nthing oppoisition...he's highly over-rated...

BJ Flores is a very nice guy in person. But he's probably my least favorite commentator (and I dislike a lot of them). I actually don't remember disliking him on ESPN, so that almost makes me question if some of the stuff I hate about him comes from his NBC producers. First of all, he's got the dual threat of being TERRIBLE at scoring fights, and yet being ultra-confident in his cards. Case in point: he gives Chambers every close round, plus one obvious Adamek round, and then says Alan Rubenstein should never be allowed to judge again for doing the exact same thing in the opposite direction.

He also is VERY elementary in his commentary, and doesn't notice subtleties of a fight (at least not out loud). Case in point: Chambers hadn't thrown his left hand AT ALL for like 5 or 6 rounds, and Flores is still talking about how Chambers hadn't thrown his left hand "much" in the last round or two, and wonders out loud whether he "MIGHT" have injured himself- as if the possibility is just dawning on him.

Thirdly, he's a total promotional tool. He shamelessly drops the names of random Don King fighters who are otherwise completely irrelevant. For instance, he talks about Shumenov needing to step up. But the ONE name that occurs to him as an example is Ryan Coyne. Nevermind that Coyne isn't even really a top-75 fighter, has never even made the 175 limit in his career, and wouldn't really be a step up from Santiago at all necessarily. But he does happen to be a Don King fighter like Flores.

And finally- and I think the NBC producers and/or their sponsors are to blame for this considering Kenny Rice does it every third sentence- he is always talking about whatever silly and pointless local color-coded alphabet title is at stake in the fight at hand, as if it matters.

I agree that it would be unseemly for Tarver to be allowed on TV given his status as persona non grata, but the actual quality of commentary could scarcely have suffered more in the deal. I know he's too busy at the moment, but Andre Ward would have been a great choice. And why not Sugar Ray? He does a decent job on Epix.
