I posted this in another thread, but the more I think about it the more I'm thinkin this is EXACTLY the case in this here fight that may or may not happen tonight.

"Im starting to get the impression that somehow this **** may have been somewhat staged up to capitalize off the hype. He(Broner)may have come in over-weight for the 1st weigh-in, and then after all the outrage over it they staged up the 2nd weight-in with every intention of him failing to make THAT weight, to suck us into wanting to see this fight even more than we already did. Not to mention garner him some more anti-fans(Boxing fans that want to see him fail/GKTFO)in Floyd-esque fashion. If so(and believe me I am purely speculating)..............................Smart gotdamn move. This fight has triple the hype it did 48 hrs ago. "

I guess it is possible especially if he was leaving the class and had real issues making weight anyway, why not use that to hype the fight.

It is boxing, so something grimy like that s not totally out of the question.

You cannot compare this to Chavez. He always makes weight, broner did not.

Man, it's too early in the day to be doing lines of coke, are some of you high? Dude was literally a buck and a half shy of lightweight, and that's not drastic?

so there is still just 3lbs diff. this **** is blown way out of proportion.. man

tonight Escobedo will prolly be around 144-5 and Broner around 147-8
            ...still just 3lbs diff

they should just fight its not like broner just gonna blow up like chavez and we like 158-160..
Not only is it the weight, it is the overall effort put in to making weight. Broner not making weight TWICE gives him an unfair advantage....he'll be fresher, heavier....and turning punches over on Escobedo like he was nothing. If they fight now I expect Broner to wear him out over 8 or 9 rounds and get the stoppage.

The issue is not the three pounds. It is Broner's disrespect for the rules. If he had made weight as contracted, neither his opponent nor anyone else would care how much he weighed this morning or how much he came into the ring weighing. Everyone has rules that they have to follow. You can't ignore the rules and do whatever the hell you want. People who do that usually end up in prison (not the county jail for you dumbas.ses who were going to make a snide remark about Floyd Mayweather in response).

First of all, I don't think Adrien Broner is that smart. Secondly, if this is true, it will backfire on him because once he moves to 135, he will get a reality check from some of better quality opposition at 135 and he will wish he never left 130. He damn sure is no Floyd Mayweather.

I'm a Broner fan. Hope he goes a long way in the sport.

But he's in the wrong. Escobedo weighed in for a fight. His opponent didn't. Escobedo could have taken the fight & made an extra $30,000, but some things are more important than money.

Have a quick read of this article.

Well its not for me to question/judge his level of intelligence. But I was also not implying that he devised the scheme to begin with. I was more or less thinking that if the feeling that I am starting to get does indeed prove to have some validity to it. It was more than likely conceived by the powers that be rather than from the fighter himself.

I think that he'll do fine at 135. But I want him to have NO soft touches right from the get go of him arriving on the 135lbs scene.

The sacrifice to make weight and let the other guy come heavy is never a good decision. There are weight classes for a reason and on top of that it is a contractual obligation.

                      I wouldn't fight if I was Escobedo
