Did Maidana Ruin Khan Like Chavez Did To Meldrick Taylor?

First of all, Maidana is not Julio Ceasar Chavez, I'm not say that Khan is Meldrick Taylor, But Taylor was the leading the entire fight with Chavez but the fight was stopped because Taylor thought he had to win the last round and there was a big controversy about it.

Now though Chavez got the win over Taylor and despite the fact that Khan got the win over Maidana, Chavez had just utterly ruined Taylor deeply that Taylor was never the same fighter again, Yes he did go on to win world title at welterweight but Chavez took something out of Taylor that he was never the same. In the same way Khan has not really been the same since Maidana, He looked not good against McCloskey, But looked great against Judah, Lost a hometown decision to Peterson and got KO'd by Garcia.

It might just be that Khan is going through a bad phase, Lets not forget that Pacman at the same age as Khan had similarly been knocked out twice and outboxed once, Yet Pacman is the best or at worst second best P4P on the planet.

My fear is that Maidana did to Khan what Chavez did to Taylor. The effects from that fight almost two years ago might have far reaching and deeper implications that we initially thought.

DISCLAIMER: There is only one Chavez and one Meldrick Taylor, Just saying that style wise Maidana is more like Chavez with freakish punching power and Khan is more like Meldrick Taylor with the olympic background, flashy combinations, speed and foot movement.

Not even close, fam. Maidana- Khan was just a tough fight.

and u mentioned that u realize Maidana isn't Chavez...but that has everything to do with it lol...Taylor was getting hit and hit HARD by one of the hardest punchers of that era, which says a lot.

Not to mention that Taylor's decline was almost overnight after that fight, and he suffered some serious brain damage.

Khan isn't ruined. Khan is just Khan.

Though Taylor was winning, Chavez clearly took years off Taylor's career in that fight. Maidana vs Khan wasn't even the same kind of fight. Khan just doesn't have a good chin and got caught late in the fight.

you know , I thought about this for a moment after Garcia fight !!!

but what about prescott ? what about peterson ?

if there is one to be excuted , he should be this cheater peterson , what he did is unforgivable , I bet he changed the whole curve of khan career , it doesn't mean it is over for khan , but it hinders him for YEARS ><

but you know , on the long term , your judging to the same situation differs , I mean what about a win over peterson then a defeat on the hands of mayweather ? specially in silly amateurish way like garcia fight ? it would be full embarrassment and end of a career like Hatton case

I think what happened to khan is good , and it isn't over for him as long as he didn't get his mega-fight yet

I think Khan will be back , and he will get stronger and better [ like he did with prescott , which he showed in Maidana fight ]

no...had it been a series of tough fights, even if he were to win these physically grueling kinds of fights or say 5 to 6 or more wars compiled in a decades time then yeah, there is that possibility of exerting oneself and taking something out of oneself. But Khan was (and still is) young going into the Garcia bout with not much wear and tear on him. Khan is still young enough to bounce back, but he really can't afford another major set back, like absorbing a lot of punishment and then being knocked out.

Nah. Chavez took something out of Taylor, but Khan is just Khan. Not very good for a world class fighter.
