First of all, Maidana is not Julio Ceasar Chavez, I'm not say that Khan is Meldrick Taylor, But Taylor was the leading the entire fight with Chavez but the fight was stopped because Taylor thought he had to win the last round and there was a big controversy about it.
Now though Chavez got the win over Taylor and despite the fact that Khan got the win over Maidana, Chavez had just utterly ruined Taylor deeply that Taylor was never the same fighter again, Yes he did go on to win world title at welterweight but Chavez took something out of Taylor that he was never the same. In the same way Khan has not really been the same since Maidana, He looked not good against McCloskey, But looked great against Judah, Lost a hometown decision to Peterson and got KO'd by Garcia.
It might just be that Khan is going through a bad phase, Lets not forget that Pacman at the same age as Khan had similarly been knocked out twice and outboxed once, Yet Pacman is the best or at worst second best P4P on the planet.
My fear is that Maidana did to Khan what Chavez did to Taylor. The effects from that fight almost two years ago might have far reaching and deeper implications that we initially thought.
DISCLAIMER: There is only one Chavez and one Meldrick Taylor, Just saying that style wise Maidana is more like Chavez with freakish punching power and Khan is more like Meldrick Taylor with the olympic background, flashy combinations, speed and foot movement.
