Comments Thread For: Calzaghe Plans To Approach Khan For Training Job

World champion boxing coach Enzo Calzaghe has offered former WBA light-welterweight champion Amir Khan the chance to rebuild his career with him. Khan, 25, insists he will not retire after being stopped in the fourth round by unbeaten WBC champion Danny Garcia in Las Vegas on Sunday. But he may look to work with another trainer because current coach Freddie Roach cannot commit "100%" to him.

I actually think this would be a good pairing. Calzaghe could make a name as a trainer with Khan and its not like Joe has anyone in his stable worth a damn. Khan would be smart to accept the offer.

On topic: It would definitely be an interesting match, I'm sure any trainer with defensive experience would be a better trainer than Roach.

There's the saying that the best defense is a good offense, but that is not entirely true. It might be for some fighters who have iron chins, but not for someone like Khan.
The best defense for him is to learn how to defend himself and how NOT to go toe to toe with somebody who can pack a punch or time one.
