Firstly, most British fighters have a local fanbase that they can rely on for solid support. They wouldn't have that in America, where the American fans will only pay to see you if you're an already established name.

That means a British fighter isn't going to be an attractive option for an American promoter simply because American fans won't pay to see them, thus they won't be able to match the money they earn domestically.

Murray probably can earn in the range of £10,000 - £20,000 in a non-title fight in in the north of England. No American promoter can match that unless they are on Showtime or HBO.
More reason for him to STFU and do his job, not screaming about 'topping bills'...

cuz if Cubans can pay cartels to smuggle them out of Cuba and start a new life in a country where they don't speak the language, I'm sure someone from England with a legit manager can do the same thing. Also, no one said it was easy, they said it was necessary.

Cuban's aren't allowed to box professionally and see America as the land of opportunity.

A fighter from England, with a family, mortgage payments, and a good quality of life, probably wouldn't want to risk that fighting for $500 dollars at some Texan high-school gymnasium.

Doesn't make sense for a Brit to pursue a career in the states. Better to 'arrive' in Vegas if your good enough.

Craig McEwan might be a good example. I'd imagine he would have made more money fighting in Edinburgh.

but the point isn't whether they want to, it's whether they can and in this case it's much easier for them to move than it is for a Cuban. Ask rigo how long its been since he's seen his family and whether or not he appreciates having his family being constantly monitored by the state to the point where they can't go anywhere without being watched and are basically being held prisoner. Not to mention that they've been completely ostracized from the community after the government banned rigo from competing and called him a traitor after he tried to defect. A fighter from England has it way easier than that. If owning a house and good quality of life are the "problems" that you face, you have it way better than these Cubans. And the point is not to move to the states to fight for 500 bucks. The point is to move to the states and fight guys to build up your name and get the bigger fights. If you think anyone is telling him to move to the states to be a 500 dollar journeyman then you have clearly missed the point.

another thing is if you're unwilling to move to the states because you have a family and mortgage in England, then that is your choice so don't complain about how you don't get big fights cuz no one in the states knows who you are. You know moving to the states would be a better career move but if you don't wanna do it, that's fine, just don't complain about not getting top fights cuz you're not a proven top contender and no one knows who you are.

also, moving to the states does not affect the quality of life problem that you presented cuz he can have that in the states too so that's a moot point.

ultimately I'm just trying to say that while it is hard to make that decision, it's not as hard as you made it sound as tons of guys have done it and Cubans risk their lives and the lives of their families to do it. Cuz getting kidnapped, held for ransom or murdered by a Mexican cartel or even drowning after that raft capsized makes moving to America's much harder decision than those faced by any British boxer. Quality of life and mortgages are one thing, losing your life is another and can't even compare.

                Macklin, Barker, McEwan, Lee, Proksa.

                Want me to go on?

You don't end up a superstar off drawing against Felix Sturm. If you want to be topping bills that bad, go propose fights with the rest of the 160 elite. I think Murray wants to be topping bills undeservedly against mediocre opposition.

Pretty sure it's his own fault that he commited whatever crime that didn't let him travel to America for the Chavez fight.
