Whatever, the GB undercard is actually looking pretty good. Ponce De Leon vs Jhonny Gonzalez, Maidana vs Karass, and Peter Quillin vs Marco Antonio Rubio. If we're lucky, they KO each other quickly (doesn't seem unlikely) and we got see the entire GB show before the Chavez vs Martinez fights starts. The Top Rank undercard is going suck (Rigo vs TBA bum, Alvarado vs TBA bum, and Macklin vs Alcine) so it's going to be nice to have the GB undercard for free while I wait for Martinez vs Chavez.

Yeah that's what I'm gonna do as well but I think Maidana/Karass is gonna be a long war. And they're also gonna add Mares to the card, we're not gonna be able to watch the whole undercard before Martinez/Chavez and that sucks.

It's real simple if you like JCJ Jr then order the PPV if you like Canelo watch it on Showtime. Or order the PPV DVR the showtime fight. Big deal problem solved. As far as the Canelo match up well who do you think would have been a better match up in this short amount of time?

No it's not that simple, I like Canelo more than Martinez and Jr but I ain't gonna watch his fight live over the HBO main event if I have to choose. One fight is simply much better than the other, there's no comparison. Any top 10 Jr middleweight would have been a better opponent than Lopez.

Both put on good shows. Both put on joke fights that make people laugh at the state of the sport. To pretend that Golden Boy is any better than Top Rank is wrong.

And you can't say they make the better fights, Canelo-Lopez is a disgraceful matchup and I'm a Canelo fan. GBP is hurting the sport and the fans By refusing to give up the Sept 15th date, acting like primadonnas.

Having 2 cards on the same day does not hurt the sport. It has happened a lot man. Just not ppv events but who cares?

I will say that so far golden boys EVENT looks more action packed then TR. I got tickets to chavez vs martinez but if there undercard blows I may consider changing to GBP. Just because as a overall event they look to have the better fights. TR does not even have a undercard yet..........

maybe if you left your mom's basement you would realize the casual fan doesn't even have a clue about boxing promotional companies.. stop thinking everyone follows boxing to the teeth and logs on to boxingscene

as for your other statement, every sport has match-ups going on at the same time so your statement has no credibility.. what this does is give the consumers a choice to watch what they want to watch... if they feel one other game ( or in this case, fight) is better than another one going on, than they'll watch that.. its not really a big deal and not hard to comprehend so shut up and just deal with it

Just when I thought Top Rank was about to slide downhill, things start going wrong for Golden Boy. Two highly anticipated GB fights get cancelled and they lose a lot of money, then two of their biggest stars get stopped in the replacement fights. And to top it off, they're putting on a joke of a PPV the same night Top Rank has one of the most anticipated fights of the year.

Boxing is not like the other sports, big cards only happen a few times a year so to put two on the same night is damaging for the sport.
