    ortiz new trainer

What do you guys think if Ortiz hires Miguel cotto's trainer? I think Danny wasn't that good of a trainer. I think Ortiz needs some serious discipline from a hard nose trainer?

You're so wrong. There's plenty of things that Ortiz does wrong. He doesn't move his head at all, high guard defense but still takes looping hooks, and throws punches with his mouth open just to name a few.

Diaz is one of the best trainers in the world today and he teaches defense. He found a way to take away Mayweather's biggest weapon(The right hand) against Cotto, so he has a plan and Cotto is smart so he executes it. Still I don't think Ortz is mentally strong to stay calm in there.

          I'm afraid DempseyRollin is right..

I mean he's got a mental issue, he took hellacious BOMBS from Berto who looked like he can crack harder than Lopez, and ate them like candy..granted Lopez did break his jaw and that would definitely take something out of you, but he gets frustrated easily and finds ways out as soon as he gets in trouble, and sees no exit..

at his age it's hard to change his mentality..I wouldn't put money on anyone being able to get to his head to motivate him enough to fight through adversity and weather the storms when they hit their hardest...maybe Brother ****m..but I highly doubt anyone could..

It's too late for "discipline". He has great physical discipline but he's just not mentally there, which come from an early age, not his age.

If you ever read teddy atlas' book, he mentions Tyson's first mentally barriers. He was facing some tough kid in the amateurs who he kept knocking down but the kid wouldn't remain down. That got to Tyson Who began breaking down mentally and the kid began to back him up and beat him up a bit.

Like the saying goes, you either have it or you don't. Plus cottos trainer doesn't look like the type to nurse a fighter

I listened to that interview with Garcia and I feel a little bad for him because he sounded like he could never trust Victor to do what he asked in the ring. He says they worked on a variety of ways to avoid Josesito's hooks but he didn't do any of it in the fight.

It's not Garcia's fault his jaw got broken, those things happen....Garcia asked him to give 2 more rounds and pursue the KO. they were winning the fight..

I think they were a good team for strictly boxing, Victor is a good fighter nothing really wrong with his skills. He might just need more of a mentor type to connect with Victor so he can get past his "heart" issues. Danny said he let him know at the very end that his heart is preventing him from taking it to the next level

Ohhh so Floyd landing only 26% of his punches and time and time again hitting Cotto's gloves to the point he had to adjust and start throwing the right hand behind Cotto's gloves and when Cotto took that away he had to go with the uppercut to slow him down. Yes Floyd is great but he had major problems hitting Cotto clean with the right hand.

Btw that is what makes Floyd great.
