I guess i feel for him, but everyone goes through ****, most of us cant sell our stories to the tabloids and write a autobiography.
Ive nothing against him, good luck to him, but the same goes for everyone else.Comment

I immediately lose respect for any fighter the moment he suggests he was screwed (and means it) after a fight. For that, I do not respect De La Hoya, Hopkins, Wladimir Klitschko, etc. I also have no respect for fighters that are naturally dirty or purposely cheat. Therefore, I do not respect Barrera or Castillo. I don't respect guys with huge egos that never do anything to back it up like Roy Jones. Tarver has a huge ego, but at least he KO'ed Roy like he said he would. Aside from these guys, I respect just about every fighter out there.Comment

Frank suffered manic depression and then spent a time in a mental hospital.Originally posted by Rockin1Thats who I thought that you were talking about, whats the story with him.
Joy at the marvelous courage and skill and then laugh at them for the mental or financial problems that they have afterwards. Then you will ***** about the current fighters not slugging it out enough or not fighting enough. Now that is class.

I agree, and as a boxer myself I truly hope i am not treated like some sort of clown.Comment

I think after a fight if a fighter thought they won, i dont think u can blame them.Originally posted by DiegoFuegoI immediately lose respect for any fighter the moment he suggests he was screwed (and means it) after a fight. But some of them are right...they have been screwed!
I thought when the decision was announced after the De La Hoya/ Mosley fight, the look on Mosleys face was one of shock! He didnt think he won, but was given the fight.
Yet he didnt have the balls to admit that, just smiled through the post fight interview.
I lost alot of respect for him then.Comment

Originally posted by Rockin1With all of the great moments that they have given us and all of the thrills that they brought to the game, why is it that the common fan will beat up and belittle a fighter for having trouble during or after their careers. Sure, some of them deserved what they got, in jail for various crimes. But some just gave everything that they had in the ring and many destroy their minds in the process. So if a fighter ends up bankrupt or possibly bi-polar or even in an insane asylum, why is it that the fans will then make fun of the fighter and be-little him for his troubles outside of the ring. It really makes me ****ing sick to read some of the bull**** that will be written about a fighter when he is in trouble. Do any of you offer help or look for a way to help him. Hell no you dont, you like to poke fun and make up ****** ass comments about his trouble.
Understand that fighting is like no other sport and fighters are like no other athelete. For in no other sport do I see the atheletes mental capacities so stricken as I do in boxing. You love to cheer them when they are up and then you like to kick them in the teeth when they are down. Know that while they were thrilling you in some slugfest war, they were extracting life from their minds and sharpness from their wits.
So what I am saying is if your going to cheer them when they are up then atleast have some ****ing compassion when they are down.

This is a good post but I have to ask you who are these folks that you are referring too? The common fan? Hmmm...
I have never read (doesnt mean it hasnt been written obviously) someone making fun of Joe Louis or Sugar Ray Robinson because Frank Cinatra used to give them hand outs or because they were hard up for cash and got by simply by shakling folks hands.
Muhammad Ali-it is a damn shame but what boxing fan makes fun of him or Louis or Frazier or Melderick Taylor or Greg Page?
I have read some pretty bad comments directed towards Gerald McClellan but I have read even more that are encouraging and genuine...
I guess Im having a tough time understanding what triggered you to write this post- an you describe an example of what you are talking about or site something?
Oh-Tyson is Tyson and he is the 1 fighter I can think of off the top of my head that fans flip alot of **** for how he has handled himself out of the ring...but is this what your talking about?Comment
