Bernard Hopkin's should train Amir Khan.

Bernard is incredibly smart. His boxing IQ is the best. He communicates in a way that you understand.

As a trainer, he is 1-0. Oscar beat Shaq O Neil.

Anyway on a serious note, here is why.

Hopkin's is not predictable, but he does have speed, but he also is a guy that you can not hit cleanly. He is slower than Dawson but Dawson even found it hard to hit Hopkin's.

Hopkin's is sort of cagey, he lets time fly, picks his shots and smothers. It isn't exciting but it works. Khan has speed, and some pop, but he is timed because he is constantly throwing shots in a repetitive way.

    His sequence is:

Jab to face or body / 1-2 / 3/4 combo with uppercut / Occasional right lead.

All very different right? But what he does is after 2 secs to reset, it is almost guaranteed he will throw something. Then he will reset after a hug/combo and two secs later... Hopkin's will never ever do that. He will wait and you will never know exacly when he will throw a shot. This is what allows him to hang with the young guns, if he kept engaging every 2 secs like Khan, he most likely would have retired long a go.

If Khan can use these next 3 to 4 years of his prime age with Hopkin's, he can learn certain timing/ambush/smoothering skills that will be effective because he always lands the punch first with his speed.

No disrespect to Roach and his Parkinson's, but his illness is pretty bad now. There were times in sparring that it looked like he wnated to say something but couldn't. He rarely talks and often Ariza would shout instructions. Or Buboy for Pac.

Hopkin's would be perfect, even though they have chins apart.

I think the issue here is that Khan's I.Q level is equivalent to a piece of broccoli

I dont know if he should train him but someone like Bernard Hopkins in his ear giving him help to improve his disgustingly bad Ring IQ could help him.

However i think Khan is or shall i say was too damn arrogant to listen. Hopefully he will now.

Ah well I guess no one agrees. I just thought Khan basically will always come at you and you will always get opportunities.

Is Hopkins even interested in training anyone? I doubt he is. Maybe Brother ****m Richardson should train Khan.

I am off Brother ****m. The ****** link may help their bond in some ways, but yeah I guess Naz would be good. Hopkin's is at an age where he should consider training.
