Its not about not wanting to see the matchup. Its a great matchup. The fact is they are at different parts of their carreer. Nonito has paid his dues and Rigo still has some dept to pay off. Nonito is a top 5 p4p and hes looking for bigger fights and bigger paydays. Rigo hasnt even headlined his own fight card yet. And this is coming from someone who is nuetral. Dont love Nonito. Dont hate him either.

Rigos on the right track though. Hes name dropping which is good for creating some attention. Now all he has to do is continue to win and build a fanbase. If hes the real deal then this fight will still be there in a year or two. Besides its worth it for Rigo too whos making peanuts right now. He could triple his net worth in a year or two, like I said if hes the real deal.

Over 400 amateur fights (allegedly)
Lost his last fight in 1998
7x Cuban National champion
Won his WBA strap after 9 fights

People say he's not ready for a shot? Jesus christ, as fans we should be screaming for this guy to be fighting all the top guys, he has a pedigree that most seasoned professionals would die for.

He is ready. His weakness is he doesn't bring a crowd (yet) but he brings some genuine skills.

Yeah but Vazquez Jr and Mathebula deserved it..........get out of here. Donaire will more than likely fight Arce and then maybe Nishioka, and go to 126. I would love to see Abner Mares fight Nishioka if Donaire fights Arce in the fall.

Exactly Rigondeaux paid his dues by being one off the greatest amateurs ever.Agreed with the bolded but neither did the South African so Donaire cant use that as an excuse

Of course nearly everyone would want to see this fight, there are many other fights I'd like to see happen. But some of you don't seem to understand this is about MONEY and BUSINESS aswell. It's not practical on either of them to do this right now and they know it. For nonito, what's the point of huge risk low reward in the eyes of general boxing fans, For rigon, easy pass up rankings as he's confident of win but he knows full well it wont happen any time soon. Instead they build the hype train to make a better possible future fight.

AGREE completely.. if there is a fighter who deserves and has the most experience/praise in the sport, is Rigo! Not a lot need to be said about the guy, look at his Gold Championships and the fact he is considered the best Amateur in history, to most boxing historians.
