Wow India / Pakistan Boxing for over 3000 years. Someone educate the Garcias..

I looked into this after the racist remarks from the Garcias. It's some interesting info. It turns out that boxing has been in the Indian/Pakistani and Arab world long before it ever came over to this side of the planet and it could have actually started there!

    Taken from Wiki:
Many of the popular sports mentioned in the Vedas (3000 year old Indian texts) and the epics have their origins in military training, such as wrestling (maladvandva), boxing (musti yuddha) and archery (dhanurvidya).[5]

The country of Pakistan has only been around since 1947, before that the region was part of India too so Pakistanis are actually a mix of Indians and Arabs.

One of the oldest martial arts is known as Kalaripayattu from ancient India. Some say it's actually the world's first martial arts and was introduced to China by a traveling monk but that's a hotly debated topic.

This picture is found in the Ptah Hotep tomb from 2500 BCE. Pharaohs and princes watched the boxing match, which indicates that it was an organized contest.

What Garcia said is pretty close to the money I think.

Indians and Pakistanis etc are unfortunately not the best athletes the world produces in general terms. it's just a fact, like only 1 white man ever running the 100M under 10 seconds. Some races are better at certain things over others.
Indians & Pakistanis may once have been the best athletes and the most genetically gifted and ruled at combat sports, but they don't now I'm afraid.

Nah, generalizing in that way is a form of racism. Khan wouldn't have beaten Malignaggi (an Italian-American), Judah (an African-American) and McCloskey (Irish). So just using Khan's career alone, it disproves your assertion.

Khan was also the only boxer from the UK who made the Olympics that year. The only one. While white, black, chinese and other Brits were unable to qualify. Were they unable to qualify because the truth is they just aren't built to fight like Khan is? They didn't make it to the olympics because they were of European or African or Chinese origin right? It must have been their race and Khan proved that his race was superior by being the only one able to qualify.

You see, if you say what you say about one race, you can easily say it about all the others. It's called racism.

so technically what garcía said refers to 1947 onwards making the majority of the past 3000 years irrelevant to his comment.

Pointless post, you don't need me to explain why, you just need to read the full paragraph you quoted.

Khan is an exception to the general rule I think.

List me all the championship fighters from Pakistan over the last 50 years if you can (or that have 2 Pakistani parents), I wouldn't mind seeing just how many their are.
