Why do so few fighters concentrate on body attacks?

Maybe they are scared their opponent will go for their body in return? But has there ever been a famous fight where both opponents went body hunting exclusively, not sure there has been.

I suppose its risky to go for the body, unless you are in close already.

Generally speaking attacking the body leaves the head open, in a 12 round fight trading body shots for head shots is kind of a losing proposition because if you don't break down the other guy you will lose because you traded body punches which count for less with head punches.

Lots of guys don't want to take that risk, especially if they have another path to victory~

judges don't give credit for body punches
and body shots are easier to counter, you're leaning in to throw
guys won't do it unless they're going for a KO

Amateurs throw head shots only, professionals throw body shots.

Fighters with good chins usually tend to throw body shots as they don't mind taking one on the face to get a good one to the liver.

Accumulation punchers also throw body shots to open up for head shots.

Counter punchers and sluggers hardly ever throw body shots.
