The only thing that separates fighters is the business of boxing. For example: ginger isn't elite, but he's a world champion. Lara is more elite than him, but the business of boxing dictates that ginger should own the strap because he can sell tickets.

There are 2 kinds of elite fighters. Those that the business of boxing deems elit & those that really are elite. Here are a few examples.

Business of boxing elites: Floyd, Pacman, Khan, Donaire. Now some are really good, but are allowed to cherrypick because the business of boxing dictates it.

Really elite fighters: Ward, Bradley, Rigo, Martinez. Elite fighters that usually cannot prove it against business of boxing elite fighters because they are high risk, low reward.

Floyd is elite to me because of his health preserve ability. He can see which fight is a health risk and which fight is not. For example he was willing to die in the ring with Hatton, Marquez, Ortiz, and Cotto. But when it came to PAC health came first. I think all fighter should have this ability.

Those are the only fighters in the sport I think are elite. There are others on the cusp, that are one fight or so from being on that list. I have a higher standard for elite than most though, I only like to use it for a certain number of fighters.
