This is history. Alvarez has to be threatening the record for most title fights against fighters that aren't actually in the division the belt belongs too.

Several sources within the United States, and Mexico, are advising BoxingScene.com that WBC silver welterweight champion Josesito Lopez (30-4, 18KOs) will be announced, likely tomorrow, as the opponent for WBC 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (40-0-1, 29KOs) on September 15th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. At the moment, BoxingScene has not received confirmation on the exact weight - whether the fight is set for the full 154 or a catch-weight.
