Nishioka talks about fighting Donaire (Youtube)

Box recing isn't the best of things BTW. I haven't seen this guy fight, but rarely use Box Rec and if I do, I'll watch the fight first.
Look, Rigo could be really good, but as a boxing fan, everyone should start to understand that resume is also a measure of how good you REALLY are.
As opposition goes up, usually KO's and stoppages get less. Fighters eat more shots and have less accuracy. Workrate and strength of fighters go up. Speed usually is a factor.
Bute is a recent prime example of someone over hyped when he did not face a top 5 guy.Comment

Indeed but Donaire has one of the best left hooks in the world. I only saw the fight today and think it was a left hook that was flush. Most fighters will get hurt if Donaire can land on them with it.
Anyway it is up to you whether or not you believe Rigo is the best, I myself will at least prefer to look at resume and who people have fought. The big stage, the pressure, facing someone that matches your speed, power or strength is not easy, it won't be for Donaire, but I know he at least has fought some pretty decent guys and if I was to bet, the man with that experience VS a guy with out, I would be dumb to bet on Rigo. I don't even know if Rigo would take a shot from Donaire.Comment

Well... Good luck finding a fight of this guy. At least not on YouTube but I hear you on Boxrec.
Im just tired of this "He hasn't done ****" excuse when you have Donaire fighting this guy who is known to 90% of the world.Comment

I agree that Donaire should fight a top guy, and Rigo is one of them, but I don't think he will lose to Rigo, not on what we have painted on his canvas. If Rigo beats Mares, Arce and a few higher level guys convincingly, then it would tick a few more boxes for me.Comment

Ive seen enough wild swinging from Donaire as of late to convince me Rigo would have no problem with him.Comment

Indeed the wild swinging was a bad tactic but as Nishi said, he had to get very close VS a long and tall guy. I think he did not respect the power of Matheluba and saw he could get hurt and went wild. Donaire is a counter puncher, and a damn good one. Going forward isn't his best thing for sure but he closed the show in he 11th and 12th. I saw pretty much everything in that fight, from him jabbing and boxing, almost Naseem-esque counter puncher with hands low, to bobbing and weaving with his head very close to avoid shots, to just a wreckless puncher.
I guess we leave it at this, we differ on who will win.Comment

yah nishioka brought up a good point about donaire having to change his style in order to try and deal with the huge height difference. donaire tends to box and counter more against guys who are about the same height as him or smaller..and that's a style of fighting he does better at.Indeed the wild swinging was a bad tactic but as Nishi said, he had to get very close VS a long and tall guy.
