I don't think I could pick Moreno to win it, but having a guy with the type of defense, reflex, and footwork could put the focus on the issue with Guillermo and that is he has become increasingly one handed.....He's not a 1 handed fighter at all.... All I mean as it relates to this matchup is that Moreno has the defensive ability to put the emphasis on avoiding the left hand at all costs.
Obviously Rigo doesnt telegraph or shoot his shots like Darchinyian, but it's still noteworthy that Moreno completely neutralized his left and I think it shows he has can pick to focus on avoiding certain shots if that's what the gameplan is. We've seen what can happen when even the most dynamic of fighters become predictable against others who have great defense and know what to look out for.... like Donaire v Narvaez. I think he can stay in there and become a real pest.
It's been great to see Rigo in the last couple of fights go in there and throwing more volume, but I can see him overthinking in this one.
unlike Narvaez, Moreno is much more active as he doesn't have to run or earmuff for defense and is always ready to counter. He moves at much more of a constant rhythm than Rigo and can fight on the inside, or at least get an angle to fire in there.....the way he bends at the waist and extends his body forward makes it harder than it looks to land body shots as well.... its quite the accomplishment to just come out of the fight looking competent against D like that and I dont care if this is a stinker, i love matchups like this.
having said all that, I still can't pick Moreno to win ...there is a big X factor when it comes to Rigo that we r starting to see glimpses of ...i don't think we've ever really seen him take it out of 3rd gear
