i thought wladimir's arm looked to be carrying a bit more bodyfat than normal in that first pic. and then when you see him posing without a shirt you see a little bit of extra flub on the inside of his forearm. not a lot at all, mind you, but more than we're used to seeing. a good deal more, actually.
he's still in shape, but he looks like he's not in the shape he's achieved in the past.
and the scales don't lie. evidently he's the heaviest he's been.
he as almost certainly taken thompson lightly. i'm not saying he's a slacker, but at his age with a body of his size you only have so many hard training camps. he probably trained full time, just not as hard as he normally does.
when you're bigger, faster, more skilled, the much harder puncher, and you've already laid your opponent out like a slumbering baby, you're going to go into the fight with confidence
why is this fight even happening?
It's all about angles.Comment

I already noticed Wlad arms getting bigger and bigger every fight. A few years ago Vitali whos a bit taller than Wlad weighed in around 250 and Wlad 240, now its the opposite. Maybe Wlad is lifting to much weights, hes starting to look like a bodybuilder. Thompson is in good shape for his standarts, he has just not a beautifull bodytype.Comment

see, stuff like that, i dont care about it at all. not in the least. i rank guys in my head and ideally you can follow a lineage to determine who the real champion of a division is
i guess that's the official reasoning behind it, but in reality joe you and i know damn well that there's no "reason" behind this fight.
it will be nice to see wladimir put on a clinic. he's a great fighter who has made no noticeable decline.Comment
