I agree with the Garcia's, roach has never made a champion, all his fighters came in as champs or former champs or well accomplished already and just hasn't made it to a champion match yet. Roach has some clout now so the ones who haven't made to championship level he is able to get them a title shot.


I hear a lot of ragging on Emanual Steward for this as of late as this is what he has been doing for years now, Delahoya, Lewis, Cotto, Holyfield, Klitzkos along with others. The main difference is Manny Steward has made many many champions through his days as a trainer out of amateurs, taking them thru their amateur careers to their pro debut to champions. I cant think of one that Roach has made a champion out of.

Yes he is highly overrated and he gets the sympathy card for his illness, If Pacman never showed up at his gym he would of never been trainer of the year and barely mentioned if at all.

He has Ariza to get his fighters in shape so he doesn't do that either, what does he do besides mitts to help his fighters, the guy can't put together a legible sentence anymore so he's worthless in the corner and needs someone else to give instructions to his fighters.


So what does Roach have to offer his fighters, (not very much)

You also have to take into account that when Stewart took Wlad under his wing he became a much better fighter. And admittedly I know nothing about Garcia, is he capable of beating Khan?

I kinda agree. I want Garcia to win, but I just don't see how he's gonna win. He was getting schooled by Morales, I think in 4 different rounds. I think I had him losing 4 rounds, I don't remember. But I remember thinking highly of Morales after the fight, despite having Garcia winning. In the rounds that Morales won, he schooled Garcia. He outboxed him. And I think Khan is gonna do the same but more than just 4-5 rounds.

I am among those who feel that way.

Pacquiao is Roach's only real product he produced .. and Manny is 85% hype.

Khan is mostly hype as well. Amir has the biggest mouth for a man who hasn't been the best in any division to date.

What does Roach at this stage of his condition bring to the table aside from name recognition?

All his fighters have similar flaws. He can barely work the mitts. And some of his past fighters have been linked to PEDs.

I'd say he was very overrated. Considering that Pacquiao has looked like cold mud in his last 3 fights, I'd say that if Manny had ever manned up and allowed USADA to probe a little deeper earlier he might have found himself in an entirely different scandal.

We all know he never let them look at him. And because of that he's gone on to be hailed as Roach's best product.
