mayb so, it's about styles, as Roach lost 2x vs Louie Burke, a guy that schooled him, and in present day, a better trainer...

roach is just a broken record now, he talks like he knows the sport and 2 + 2 = 4 / Not how the sport works their are unknown varibles that go into it. shoot last year I think it was every single one of his fighters lost (minus the Pacquaio riot) and every single time he said. He said they were made to order etc etc. Now dont get me wrong, I know he aint gonna say nor should he say "we aint ready or blah blah" but should chill with the talks like he knows for sure this and that will happen cause 2 + 2 = 4. When he does that and it backfires constantly every time you only hurting your own image.

Just curious, how many of you believe that Roach is overrated as a trainer?

I was expecting a huge improvement in skills with Amir Khan but as was demonstrated in the Peterson fight Roach has neglected teaching him how to fight on the inside. Roach is good at picking oponents and working on a fighters strengths but does not seem to have it in him to be able to teach old dogs new tricks. I don' see Khan getting much better with him as a coach.

Roach definitely strikes me as overrated. He doesn't seem to big a tactician. He gets his guys in great shape though, keeps 'em focused.

Roach is good at 1 thing for sure. That's stating the obvious.

However if Garcia survives the 1st 4 rounds without absorbing too much punishment, this fight will get interesting real quick.

I agree with the Garcia's, roach has never made a champion, all his fighters came in as champs or former champs or well accomplished already and just hasn't made it to a champion match yet. Roach has some clout now so the ones who haven't made to championship level he is able to get them a title shot.

I hear a lot of ragging on Emanual Steward for this as of late as this is what he has been doing for years now, Delahoya, Lewis, Cotto, Holyfield, Klitzkos along with others. The main difference is Manny Steward has made many many champions through his days as a trainer out of amateurs, taking them thru their amateur careers to their pro debut to champions. I cant think of one that Roach has made a champion out of.

Yes he is highly overrated and he gets the sympathy card for his illness, If Pacman never showed up at his gym he would of never been trainer of the year and barely mentioned if at all.

He has Ariza to get his fighters in shape so he doesn't do that either, what does he do besides mitts to help his fighters, the guy can't put together a legible sentence anymore so he's worthless in the corner and needs someone else to give instructions to his fighters.

So what does Roach have to offer his fighters, (not very much)
