Comments Thread For: Steward Expects Bradley To Return as a Better Fighter

On June 9th, 2012, trainer Emanuel Steward had a ringside view of the Manny Pacquiao-Timothy Bradley duel. Moonlighting as a color commentator for HBO, Steward saw a fight that he felt was largely controlled by Pacquiao and he seemed taken aback when two of the three 115-113 scorecards were read in Bradley’s favor, granting him the upset victory and the WBO welterweight title in the process.

I agree with what he said on Bradley's punching power. If he can somehow find a way to improve that aspect of his game, with his heart and determination, he will be tough to beat for anyone.

His punching power will prevent him from being in the top tier. Maybe he can claim to have a testosterone deficiency and gets some test pellets.

And lol at that snide comment about Cotto, Steward still mad that Cotto fired him.

Very good assessment. I'm glad ES went back and watched the fight with more focus and an open mind. When I first saw the fight I felt Pac got robbed but upon a more careful watch I scored it 7-5 for Pac which is a clear win but definitely not a domination. I don't mind people saying Pac won but if you scored it 11-1 Pac you are a ****head like Lederman.

"The fight with Cotto went pretty much how I expected." - Vintage Manny Steward!

Steward is past it and delusional. Cotto looked far better in his fights with Diaz(Margarito and Mayweather) than in his two fights with Steward(Foreman and Mayorga). Is clear at thios point Diaz is a better trainer than Manny and the gameplan he had for Cotto against Mayweather was top notch. Diaz and Cotto found a way to take away Mayweather's right hand. It was a 116-112 lose for Cotto in a highly competitive fight against the best fighter in the world.

It doesn't matter one bit how you scored the fight the second and third time you watched it; what matters is how you scored the first time!

Bradley has underrated power. You can tell the body punches that Bradley landed were having an effect on Pacquiao. Pacquiao looked like he ran out of gas in the 12th round, and Bradley landed on Pacquiao at will.
