Comments Thread For: Nishioka To Be Ringside, Plans To Challenge Donaire

My sources have confirmed to me that WBC super bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka will be attending WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire, Jr.'s title unification bout against Jeffrey Mathebula this Saturday, July 7, at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.

Does Toshiaki Nishioka speak English, just curious.

Nishioka plans to fight Donaire later this year that would be a good fight.

Probably can't speak it, but can probably comprehend it.
        Basing this off interviews.

Also I thought that was the initial plan and why he vacated his belt and didn't fight for a year.

I thought that was the plan as well.. he was going to take the rest of the year off and enjoy family time and whatever else he wanted to do... at least, that's what I thought when Abner Mares fought Eric Morel for the "vacant" championship of the WBC?

Either way, I hope the fight gets done. I also hope venues aren't an issue seeing how Nishioka has fought in Vegas before, and a major unification with Donaire should fill out an arena in the fight capital of the world.

I hope they do. The first thing I heard is that he took that year rest time because he's going up in his years and needs more rest time.

Nishioka is the best fighter at 122. I really like the way this guys fights, he's a smart technician who loves to rip to the body He took some time off because he hurt his hand against Marquez but Arum has had this fight in the works for a while

So if Nishioka-Donaire happens next shouldn't Mares fight Rigondeaux or Moreno next? Or Moreno-Rigondeaux since he is thinking about moving up to 122? I hope they fight good fighters later in the year if Donaire does in fact fight Nishioka.

Yeah no way Golden Boy does that fight. I just hope they fight someone good. Like Mares vs. the winner of Vazquez-Marquez and Moreno-Rigondeaux. Moreno-Rigondeaux would be INSANE.
