I will say that Rigo doesn't exactly fit that cards bill. I will admit that. For sure. But any exposure is good exposure.

Something along those lines but we all know who's ducking who and who the better fighter is.

      Anyway...

Not happy with this match-up if it were to happen. Atleast Rigo is keeping busy, and its just looking like he's willing to fight whatever name they throw at him at this point for a shot at Nonito or any of the other top guys at 122. Somebody should convince Nishioka to leave Japan.
Either Mars Volta or the dude with the Anselmo Moreno and whoever else (forgot the name now) avi with both of their faces as one. Sort of like this guy's avi right now.

people forget Rigo can stink it up sometimes.

Arum needs to go all out for the Chavez Martinez undercard and put fights mexicans want to see. Rios vs Alvarado and Marquez vs Viloria.

Rigo's a good boxer but that fight is more a Fox Deportes main event kind of fight.
At least Rigo is getting some exposure and not being treated the way Golden Boy is treating Lara...

True and if Bob is serious about pushing Rigo to the spotlight more he needs to be on more of these cards

This fight does nothing for boxing as a whole. Rigo is actually on a pretty decent run win 3 straight stoppages and a ****load of knockdowns against decent comp. Yes, I think Kennedy, Ramos, Casey & Cordoba are decent comp. Also, to say that he's a boring fighter seems like backlash from one fight (Cordoba). That being said, Rigo with his recent run, title belt and extensive amatuer background is light years ahead of Marroquin. Hell, Rigo's last 4 fights would be step up fights for Marroquin. Top Rank needs to pit Rigo against the likes of Mijares, Arce, Terrazas or even Montiel. Someone with name recognition, that's Mexican, and experience to test Rigo. Not some kid with 0 exp.

Depends on how you define "picking up the gauntlet". If you mean filling the void left by Mayweather, Pacman, Martinez or other bonafide superstars than I think Ward, Donaire, Gamboa, Broner, Khan, Mares and to a lesser extent Canelo/Jcc Jr are more than capable of eventually picking up the gauntlet. Younger prospects like Magdaleno, Bogere, Russell Jr, Benavidez, Cruz, and Marroquin need to be built to last and not thrown into the fire at this stage. Marroquin only has like 1 or 2 10 rounders under his belt and he lost to Franky Leal just last year, he's not ready and Rigo needs to have bigger fights lined up for the future.
