How when Jermain goes and wins two close fights against Hopkins who was the p4p king he looked like **** hes trash....when noone has looked good against hopkins (ok RJJ). Yet when Winky looks bad against Soliman, its hard to look good against Soliman? It just blows my mind how an offensive fighter looked bad against a defensive makes the offensive bad. Then a defensive looking bad against an offensive theres excuses. Granted people said what I said its hard to look good against Hopkins, there are about 3 or so threads just on the fact he had the flu or its hard to look good against Soliman. Its his fault he looked bad with the flu, no offense to him. He went into the fight knowing he was sick or whatever. It shows heart to do so but I will not bend backwards if you go in KNOWING your sick. Thats like a backup plan "just incase". If your sick and are going to fight, why tell anyone?
Ok so explain this....

Look, I like Winky as well, but your right, no-one goes into fights letting the world know that they were sick or injured of whatever. It's a fact most boxers are never 100% when they get into the ring. -
Thats my point, btw ImSoFlyyy im banned from posting in ur threads?
Anyhow Im a huge Taylor fan (obviously) and everyone bashed him for looking bad against Hopkins. Now everyone said Wright would dominate Soliman, and now they say "Well its hard to look good against Soliman" come on now, thats kind of weak....Don't get me wrong I like Wright like I said earlier, but to discredit Taylor and give excuses to Wright doesnt make any sense to me.

See, this is the problem right here. EVERYONE was expecting nothing but domination from Wright on Soliman. The fact is, Soliman surprised everyone by being unrealistically active and made the fight alot more difficult for Winky.
BUT... it is a huge stretch to say the Soliman made Wright look bad. Wright didn't look bad at all, he formed a strategy against Soliman, he let him throw his flurries, then he attacked once his tyraid was finished. He still kept his composure which i don't think would've been the case with other middleweights. Wright was still the one the was pressing the fight and pushing Soliman back. Wright adapted to the awkward style and won a unanimous decision by outboxing him, just like most predicted, the only difference is Soliman didn't make it easy for him. End of story.
It's also unfair to compare Taylor fighting against Hopkin's strategy to Wright fighting against Soliman's strategy... Hopkin's fighting strategy is just a small, small bit different from Soliman's (sarcasm for those that always miss it).Last edited by restless_438; 12-11-2005, 01:21 AM.Comment

Winky looked like the much better fighter tonight, he just proved that he can be frustrated like everyone else. I saw nothing that showed he isn't the p4p king. He won 10 rounds or more and was never in danger of getting hurt.Comment

Thats exactly my point though. The only reason I say he looked bad is because, EVERYONE said he'd dominate him. Now almost all of these people who said he'd dominate him, are saying its hard to look good against him (Soliman). Thats just the point im trying to make. Im not coming Soliman and Bernard per say just how when you think about it, whos it harder to look better against? Bernard or Soliman? People say Wright is 100x better than Taylor yet he looked bad (reason above) againstthe lesser (understatment here) guy. This being said cong**** Winky on the win but, according to DiBella you better step up your game because Taylor may want to fight the best, he has to eatOriginally posted by restless_438See, this is the problem right here. Soliman makes EVERYBODY look bad.Originally posted by .:ImSoFlyyy:.Bad point. Looking bad against Hopkins is expected AND IS NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF. Now Soliman, who Manny Steward described as "amateurish" and "off the streets", thats embarassing.Comment

Why tell everyone? Because he was not really sick and that just a ready excuse in case he lost or perform bad as he did.
Common sense DUDE, why risk your stature and fight not in 100% if yo are Winky? That FLU story is nothing but baloney in my opinion.Comment
