Can you post a better link though? Both of your links don't work and I'm on fight-news and it's showing nothing. Surely this would be on the front page wouldn't it?

            edit: found it

            Boxing News

            Alvarez-TBA no longer a pay-per-view

It was announced today that Canelo Alvarez’ September 15 fight will no longer be a pay-per-view clash and will instead be televised on Showtime. The bout was originally planned as a PPV event, but after three consecutive attractive opponents for Canelo fell out, and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. facing Sergio Martinez on a competing PPV the same night, it was decided to not go the PPV route for Canelo’s fight.
Not sure where or what their source is coming from since they didn't list one. Did Golden Boy release a statement?

That is how he can really compete a get better numbers than Jr. On free TV or a premium channel so the masses can watch

Jr/Martinez fight is better than anything on the table right now for Canelo

Smartest move they made. Now they can fight a bum of choice without the worry of flopping against Chavez-Martinez.

Showtime TV ratings will be ****. This will do nothing to build his image and it'll only drag him backward. He'll probably do around 800k viewers as opposed to 1.6 on HBO and probably more than 15 million on CBS. Oscar is insane if he thinks this will build his image. Canelo needs a big push into the lime light or else he'll just be a B level star.

The exposure to a larger audience will be better for him to build a fan base. He hasn't got the fan base to sell a PPV yet.
