So you noticed the trend of GB putting on 2nd tier cards to go up against other promoters major events

Yup. Don't like it one bit.

I just hope Ward vs. Dawson is promoted properly and sold as a megafight. My concern is that a lack of promotion for the fight would lead to an Alexander vs. Bradley type of flop.

I consider Rubio to be a great test for Quillin, enough so, that I wouldn't be suprised if his manager declined the fight.

            100% agree

you know when Quillin was running his mouth about Martinez, DiBella approached GBP about fighting him but Quillin's team declined the offer, said he wasn't ready.

i think it was on Max boxing

personally I'd like to see Quillin fight Macklin, that's a real test. now that Quillin is with Al Haymon, we'll see him beat up the likes or Rubio and David Lopez. not terrible fighters, just not very good.

For a guy who's basically a solidly skilled but aging junior-middle, who was never particular quick & certainly not getting any quicker, Rubio has had a pretty remarkable career & is still a very solid threat.

Rubio's a guy I written off a number of times after losses & he's come back to defeat good fighters & touted prospects before, so this should be interesting.

Quillan should be a little too big, as well as having a big speed advantage, & unlike a lot of quick fighters he really focuses on accuracy.
Then again, something similar has been said about a number of Rubio's bouts at middle, & it was the other guy who ended up on the canvas...

Quillin is a plodder and his speed is in his upper body or in spurts. Winkie was a test by Peter's team to see how he did against an ancient dancer and Winkie got away. Rubio can move and he has a lot more left than a blown up Winkie. Rubio might be able to outbox him.

vs Rubio's an ok bout, as both w/their limitations but can provide a good show, but not saying much if Quillin wins as Rubio's shop-worn but comes back vs the inexperienced as he did vs this undefeated guy Saturday past... if not Rubio, curious who? as D.Lopez mentioned but Quillin would have a big size advantage over this slow plodder...

Nice stepping stone fight, I think after this one that a Macklin fight would be a good matchup.
