Comments Thread For: Quillin To Open Up Alexander-Bailey Card, Against Rubio?

BoxingScene.com was advised that middleweight contender Peter Quillin (27-0, 20KOs) is likely to open up the Showtime broadcast on September 8th. One potential opponent mentioned in passing is Mexican veteran Marco Antonio Rubio (54-6-1, 47KOs), who got back to his winning ways on Saturday in Mexico with a seventh round stoppage of unbeaten Jorge Cota. Quillin comes off a lopsided ten round decision victory over Winky Wright, which took place on June 2.

Come on man. Peter is supposed to be able to beat Martinez. How are you on the old man circuit fighting all the washed up cats? He needs a tough up and comer to get the big fights. These easy tune ups are not helping him!

You gotta be kidding me, I don't think any of less of Rubio because he lost to a damn cruiserweight, he still gave a very good account of himself in that fight, this right here is a good match up.

Rubio's a solid fight. Better than an old, inactive "Winky," that's for sure. If this fight goes through, and Pete wins (hopefully), I'd like to see "Kid Chocolate" take another step up in his next bout.

No complaints here. Definitely an improvement from an ancient Winky.

Rubio will be the livest fighter Quillen has yet to face and if he does what most other top guys have done to him then he'll have made a real statement that he resides at a certain level and put himself in line for the best in the division
