With the WBC already rejecting WBA champion Austin Trout as a suitable challenger for Canelo's title, there aren't too many options out there to choose from. While many of the previously named jr. middleweights have expressed their desire to face Canelo in various interviews and press releases, the one man who has remained quiet throughout the selection process might be the one who is actually getting the coveted assignment. Don't be surprised if someone from Golden Boy Promotions soon announces, "The Mexico vs. Puerto Rico rivaly will resume on September 15th when Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez defends his title against former champion Carlos Quintana!"
Doesnt lou promote quintana?Would be ****** of him to do this,Compete
against his own fight with martinez.

      Agreed.

If Mayorga turns up in shape like he did against Cotto he would give Canelo a tough fun fight.

No suprise with this one if its true. The bull**** im talking about.Another past prime, exiting out of boxing fighter who's feasting out of a quickie pay to grant Canelo another pass.Quintana doesn't have a trigger anymore. His reflexes gone, his power diminished, and his best win behind him more then yrs ago.Losses to Berto C+ fighter (w/or without steroids), soft toned opponents in PR these past months, and a ko win in may over Latimore who had 3 losses with no significant name on resume to me doesn't signify a valid "competative" fight.Canelo at this point is cherry picking and being spoon fed.Just want this guy to fight somebody decent.

I hope not cause Quintana is a bum now!!!
Quintana is no bum and if he boxes smart I give him a slight chance but really Canelo's team is bringing him along in a perfect manner for longevity. Sure there are some hard core fans who always want the best vs the best but that is not realistic from the boxer's perspective. The kid is 22 and has a long successful career in front of him unless he does something ****** and tries to step up and face the best too soon. Maybe in a year from now he should move into a higher caliber but right now he needs to keep building on his momentum and confidence and ****ing these guys out.

Why are people harping on Canelo right now? Saying he won't fight a prime live fighter? WTF else is he suppose to do. He had 3 of them booked. Not his fault other things he can't control prevent the fights from happening.

I hear u man and it makes sense, but when u are the Champion you put yourself in the position where u HAVE (or should have) to fight anyone and everyone out there. If u or your team dont feel ready then u shouldnt fight for the title until u are because u will have to defend it
