His footwork was amazing, he barely let Freddie get position, and often turned him ever so slightly to square him for the left. And he did not forget about the body. Even in the 7th when Hedgepeth took the point for the headbutt, I still scored the round 9-9 because Eryslandy dominated Freddie.

IDK, I've always been very impressed with Eryslandy, and maybe it was the opponent he had in front of him in Freddie Hernandez(Who is no push over). But I thought he put on a clinic last night against a very tough opponent.

TBH it made me want to see Mayweather/Lara @154.

I say if K9 gets Canelo in Sept. Then I want to see Lara/Cotto in November. Who's with me???????
I observed and appreciated some of the things you've pointed out, "Chief." They weren't all lost on me. But the bold is what I'm focusing on. It's interesting: on the one hand, Lara put on a clinic; on the other, Hernandez, while no slouch, is not exactly a top guy.

Late last night/early this morning, I had a nice exchange with Boxingscene writer Cliff Rold ("crold1") about Lara. He surprised me when he said that he thinks a "motivated" Lara beats anyone at 154, including Mayweather and Cotto. He said he thinks Erislandy would "carve up" Miguel, and that a fight with Floyd would be "tough for both men."

You guys must be seeing something I'm not; for, while I consider Lara very good, I don't think he's anywhere near Floyd's level. I think Mayweather would adjust to Erislandy's limited approach early and commence the boxing lesson. I also think Cotto's a little too much for Lara at the present time (and "Canelo" would demolish "K-9.")

I think he'd give Floyd hell too. That left hand is one punch Floyd can be hit with, Lara is crafty himself, and at 154 Floyd isn't exactly at his best. I think it would be interesting, definitely wouldn't count out Lara.

I like reading Cliff's posts whenever I come across them. He's a good guy. I think Hernandez may be a little underated TBH. Collazo is very crafty, so thats a very sound name to have on the resume. I dont rightly know if Eryslandy at this point will carve Miguel up, but I do think he beats him in a very tough and grueling fight(as Miguel will ensure that it is a tough fight). As for the Mayweather fight. I do think that Floyd is on another level, but Lara has the skill, the speed, the power, and the ring smarts to adjust, which I think we would see him make Floyd go to his super saiyan A game level to pull out the win. I agree K9 gets murked by Canelo, hell K9 dont even have a punchers chance in that fight.

Agreed. But I think what we see from Floyd at 154 is another facit of Floyd's game, rather than him not being at his best. IDK Bo-J. Im not high on Canelo, I think that Miguel beats him, and we would be seeing this if Miguel didnt have family obligations to fulfill.

154 does negatively effect him though it seems, and even if it didn't Floyd still is past it, though still great. Past it Floyd will find himself having a hard time with Lara IMO.

But covering up for 10/12 rounds and getting hit on the arms, it will take a toll later on in the fight and eventually get your arms tired.

But yea, if he moved his upper torso more to avoid shots instead of covering up and taking the shots, his D would be much better.
I've been saying that for a while. As soon as his opponent gets close, he stops moving and puts his hands up, no upper body movement, no bending at the waist like a true slick fighter would do. And that's why I think he would lose to Canelo. He's still a damn good fighter though.

Not to ***-ride Canelo but you know the boy can throw some nasty uppercuts with both hands...

He needs to fight better fighters to get #1 contender spot so the champs have to fight him. He really hasn't earned a title shot yet and no one is going to fight him unless they are called out to.

Cuban you need to put your 3D glasses on bro. Then you will see it.

I think a fight with Canelo would be closer than most think and would be a 50/50. A lot of factors.

Last night I also saw Lara throwing some uppercuts and I liked it.

Essentially, this is the biggest problem. Very few relevant 154lbers want anything to do with Lara. The only two I can think of are Rosado and Molina. Team Lara needs to make a fight with them.
Beating Rosado (#3 IBF, #9 WBA/WBO) and Molina (#6 WBC, #9 IBF) would get him much closer to a title shot.
