There are fighters who gain 10%. If someone is 135, adding 13.5 lbs isn't hard say Rios.
It's still far more rare than not for a fighter to gain more than 10% total body weight thought!!

Even if JCC is putting on 20+ overnight; He's not putting it all on by 930 the next morning. And if for some reason he is, he can just wake up and sweat out a few pounds and still be good.

Plus the unofficial weights, aren't they done when the fighters walk into the arena with whatever street clothes they are wearing?

This rule really is going to have no effect on any fighter whatsoever.

Fighters should not be allowed to enter the ring anymore than 5% IMO.

Chavez, Ortiz, Pavlik, Khan (I think)

I guarantee anyone considered "big" for a division is coming in the ring over 10% of the divisional limit.

I have a feeling Chavez will have a hard time making the weight. Then being weighed again in the morning on fight night he always weighs in about 180.

Why would this have anything to do with heavy weights? They don't have to cut weight as there is no limit.

The rule is kind of silly the way it is, like Bat said. If they were going to make such a rule they should have made it more strict.

Gatti rehydrated from 141 to 160 lbs when he fought Gamache. A 13% weight gain.

Margarito rehydrated from 150 to 165 lbs when he fought Pacquiao. A 10% weight gain.

Chavez Jr rehydrated from 160 to 181 lbs when he fought Rubio. A 13% weight gain.

This is useless. If you can re hydrate 16 pounds to 176 in the span of one day, what keeps you from going over 180 right before fight night? How does this affect a guy like Chavez Jr. who comes in the ring at cruiserweight?

SO WHAT if the fighter puts on 20lbs.. Thats YOUR fault if YOUR body cant re-hydrate like that. I think if Chavez can do that to his body then its all good.

Can Chavez's body take it? The guy tested positive for diuretics before, and now goes on about skipping mandatory tests.

True but it just means a fighter like Rios won't have full advantage because he won't sleep over night at just any weight. He may well end up putting a lot of lbs on after but still.

Can't believe anyone thinking this rule is not a joke.

                      Makes no difference at all.
