Heavyweight Francesco Pianeta (26-0-1, 14KOs) has been given the mandatory opportunity to challenge undefeated EBU-EU champion Richard Towers (14-0, 11KOs). Towers won the vacant belt a few weeks ago with a ninth round stoppage of French boxer Gregory Tony, but also found himself in serious trouble during the fifth round of the contest.
