Comments Thread For: Golota in Hot Water, Could Be Deported To Poland

Retired heavyweight Andrew Golota could be deported from the United States to his native Poland. The 44-year-old boxer's case is in court and his wife, Mariola Golota, told The Chicago Tribune that a decision is expected in September. Golota was involved in several high profile fights, including bouts against Mike Tyson (2000) and two against Rid**** Bowe in 1996 that ended in disqualifications. He also won a bronze medal at the 1988 Olympics.

I met Golota last summer at the train station in downtown Chicago. It looks like at the time he was heading to a gym to train since he had his gear with him.

or a bad case of dumb. to flash a fake badge at a cop. and then the weapons charge. jeez if he was a mexican or a black he'd be in jail and awaiting deportation.

The charges were a long time ago.

If he gets deported, Poland isn't that bad.

A celebrity huh? He doesn't even make Kathy Griffin's D-List. What a shocking story because he always seemed to be a very grounded and steady individual in and out of the ring.
