It seems like Tarver most likely is the victim of supplement contamination OR he was using 2a,17a dimethyl etiocholan 3-one which is best known by the name "superdrol". It's a methylated version of Masteron, to make it orally active, and is sold a nutritional supplement. This version is VERY powerful as well as pretty toxic. It's used to increase size and strength. Now the question is, did he take it on purpose or was it contamination. (contamination could very well be the reason to don't rule it out).
I disagree here. As Conte said, for a boxer, Masteron is what you'd want to take. As you note, Masteron is usually an end of cycle stacked steroid that will cut you dramatically and prepare you for competition. It has low strength boosting and no real size boosting. For a boxer wanting to make weight, this is a steroid that would help him do that and give some potential anabolic gains. It is also quick clearing, so the risk of getting caught is very low. If someone turned him on to Masteron, they knew what they were doing. tarver needed to lose weight, come in hard and maintain his strength while not testing dirty. Masteron is probably the best choice for that. Not saying he intentionally took it, but if he was going to juice, Masteron was a great choice.

Berto's positive test for nandrolone also makes sense, if you are juicing. Nandrolone was the steroid of choice for athletes for years. Nandrolone contamination is much more likely than Masteron contamination though. If remember correctly, androstendione was often contaminated with it and could cause positives.

I'm starting to have a real problem with all these so called strength & conditioning coaches. You almost need a coach just to watch your coach. Not sure if this was Tarver's doing or not, but this is getting crazy.
