Comments Thread For: Team Shumenov: There is Zero Interest in Hopkins

WBA light-heavyweight champion Beibut Shumenov is likely to avoid a potential meeting with Bernard Hopkins in the wake of Oscar De La Hoya’s comments to WBN that their main aim for a return for the former world champion is a fight with the Kazakhstan boxer.

If he wants to keep that belt, he'd better stay clear of getting in a ring with BHOP.

Why? Is Hopkins bringing a gun to the ring?

Why, when he can snatch this dude's belt before he realizes what happened. Like taking candy from a baby?

What happened to Nathan Cleverly? I thought he wanted Hopkins regardless of whether he lost to Dawson or not.

As far as Shumenov, I can't blame him. No reward, and too much risk. Unless Hopkins is willing to forfeit his entire share for a chance of another Title shot, there is no incentive.

Agree 100% that there is no point in him fighting Hopkins. Shumenov is being respectful and saying no, nothing else. No trash talk, no bull*@@*, nothing. Sounds to me like he is making it clear that he has no plans to fight him. Now if Cleverly would just step up and make a fight with Shumenov happen!!
