I thought they quit too but again, atleast they were clearly losing and had no chance of winning. Thats what changes everything. If Margarito quit against Pac then no one wouldve ripped him. His eye was destoryed and he was being shutout. He had no chance. Ortiz was in a very winnable fight. Duran & EM were fighting 2 of the greats. Ortiz was fighting Lopez. Its night & day. There is no excuse for not even trying to see if you could sustain

How about the extent of the damage? I think it's a bit premature to judge base on this.

but again my point is that its only 3 rounds left, Lopez isnt great, he's not a big time pressure fighter, you know that its a very winnable fight, and you know you have a major fight on the line next.

All I ask is for you to come out on the 10th, jab, run, box, and see what happens. If you get tagged alot and then quit, I have no problem. Its completely understandable but atleast try. Lopez might cant get to you. Ortiz was doing well when he boxed anyways and Lopez himself wasnt exactly full go.

He was kinda busted up himself. Just try & see if you cant run the clock out. The different look may confuse Lopez. Instead he quits. Not only that but he doesnt even try to hear his corner out at all. Its like he went into a complete panic and was screaming for the ref. Like "you have to stop it"

Holy **** some real douches on here. We all understand he quit. Was he supposed to go and get his mouth blown off his damn head? He made the right choice. It was an amazing fight anyway, so why give Victor so much ****? People need to chill out and focus their energy on giving Josesito more props.

so what about the others who have fought on with it? Were they suppose to get there mouth blown off? Also, how do you know that wouldve happened? The point is just try. No one is asking him to finish the fight. Just go out for the 10th and see how it goes if you box, stick, and move.

You only have 3 rounds left and you are suppose to be the supperior fighter. Try. Then if you get hit hard a few times and quit, no one rips you but you should atleast try 1st

Man I haven't suffered a broken jaw but I got hit flush with an uppercut in my last AM fight and I thought I dislocated my jaw, fortunately I didn't. But it hurts like hell. I could not open my mouth without experiencing a lot of pain the days after that.

Margarito also wouldve had to go through hell and get hit in the eye a million more times to try to win but Ortiz goal wouldve been to stick, move, and run the rest of the fight to win so he doesnt have to go through that same hell.

Margarito is fighting one of the greatest fighters of this generation. Ortiz is fighting someone 12 levels below that. Again, there is no way in hell that Ortiz was thinking about long term. He wasnt like "oh, if I stop now it wont be so bad but if I keep going then I may be out for 2 years". You think he was really thinking all of that? Hell NO. His jaw got broke and he wanted out, immediatly.

Again, no one is ripping him for stopping. People are ripping him for not trying. Just go out in the 10th and see what happens. Instead of walking him down, just jab & move. If you get hit alot, then you can stop it and no one rips you but you have to try. Maybe Lopez doesnt land anything significant

Bro u sound ignorant! I used margarito as an example of ******ity at its finest which apparently went over your head. Comparing injury to injury... Margarito who suffered a broken eye socket & according to you had NO chance of winning the fight but he kept going. Giving the fans what they wanted instead of doing what was best for him & his health. What good did it do him in the long run? A few plastic surgeries to repair his eye? Can't open it as wide as he use to? What did it do?

It got his career cut short period.....that same injury came back to haunt him, for what? A few bucks & some pride? That's dumb!

Ortiz was winning the fight! Lopez face was smashed in! Ortiz didn't want out, he got injured fool! How you gonna complain about another man not wanting to continue fightng with a broken jaw? 2 more rounds can seem like a lifetime, Until you've laced up & fought with a broken jaw you can't speak on what someone should do. And ranking Lopez 12 rnks below him means nothing in boxing, anything can happen on any giving Saturday..

Ortiz can still come back & rematch berto, Lopez, Floyd in the future...

if fighters can continue with broken hands as plenty have, then fighters with broken jaws can continue as plenty have.

Clown, I knew what the hell you were talking about and Im saying thats a ****** example. Its not the same thing at all. You also acting like I said it was smart for Margarito to continue which I didnt so fall back.

Also, I havent been in a boxing match but other fighters have also called him out so now what is your lame ass excuse?

Again, there is no way in hell Ortiz was thinking about his future when he quit. He wasnt thinking about Margarito or how it could effect the rest of his career. If you think that then you are delusional.

Nobody was telling him to finish the fight. The point is to try and then see what happens. If you take some more hard shots then you can quit but there was also a very high possibility that he could box, stick, move, run, and not take any real punishment.

BTW, trust me when I tell you that there is nothing you could say that would go over my head

Opinions based on........................NOTHING!!! Fans calling out a fighter who decides he can't continue based on a broken jaw. To continue with a broken jaw or most likely a fractured jaw is just plain ******, not brave. The damage that could be done to the fracture(s) can be devasting and no one knows including the fighter the extent of the injury but he decided to retire. No one here knows what it is to "get in a ring" let alone fight with injuries! Ali fought with fractures on his jaw against Norton and paid the price with an extended lay off. To continue on with injury is up to the fighter because he's the only one who can "feel" the damage and its his decision, not some fan!!!
The man wasn't a coward when he stepped into the ring but after suffering what could be a career ending injury he's a coward in the minds of a few fans who have ZERO idea what a fighter actually goes through. Theres alot of things wrong with this sport and I add the fact that people degrade and disgrace people on a forum when in a face to face situation would NOT say a thing!!! Forum Fighters, where everyone has an opinion but NO real experiences! No one is screamin around here about Tyson biting Evander to duck out but when a fighter suffers a real injury he's coward to retire because he has the brains to realize more damage that could be perminent could be inflicted. Make believe fighters who think the punches are make believe too hahahaha a big bunch of morons I've never encountered.
Fairy Tale Boxing, where everyone can handle the punches!!!. Ray
