What does last night say about Jessie Vargas?

I thought Lopez was the stronger fighter out of the two and arguably beat Vargas. But it still stands as a victory on Vargas's record; not to mention Vargas went 12 rounds with him...

Does last night bring up Vargas' stock?

I felt Vargas definitely won the fight against Lopez. it was close but Vargas did enough to win without a doubt imo

      Doesn't change anything for me.

Lopez was losing to Ortiz by at least 3 points at the time of Ortiz quitting. I'd expect good fighters to beat Lopez and I'd expect Ortiz to beat him in a rematch.

yeah but I think the point is that even if he lost, Ortiz is highly rated and you could argue that Vargas did better than him so maybe he's a lil better than some thought

This thought crossed my mind last night. I didn't score their first fight but it was a good close bout.

Sometimes a move up in weight can give a fighter a new leash of life. It worked for Ortiz against Berto.

I was thinkiing that too. The HBO broadcast kept talking about what he could do back at 140 but I was thinking that maybe he's looking this good because he's a tall guy who is too big for 140 and needs to be at WW.

maybe. tbh ortiz is way overrated, just like lopez was way underrated going into teh fight, im not suprised what happened. i knew before that vargas wasnt in there with no slouch when he fought lopez, now alot more ppl will know.

It says nothing. It seems like the weight made a big difference for Lopez, and I would choose him in a rematch vs. Vargas.
