the truth of the matter is , Ortiz was fighting very cautios the last 3-4 rds because he was tagged frquently. it seems to me that he was looking for a way out.HBO made us listen to the conversation with the referee in between the last Rd's:
    Referee: What is the problem?
Ortiz: I got a broken jaw.
Referee: So you want to stop the fight?
Ortiz: Well, I got a broken jaw, yes.
Referee: (waving his hands over Ortiz) It's over !!!
Look now at the Hollywood act of Ortiz as he raise up from his stool and start to walk up as he wants to continue fighting and gently pushes his corner man to put in the mouth piece again...
The problem is not the Jaw but the heart and his mental issues.
Why putting up a fake hollywood act if he had a so called justified injury?
Answer: Ortiz is insecure and he himself knew that the injury was not severe in nature and he could have continued if he only wanted but he didnt like the way his opponent was punching back all the time

Anyone on here that is downing Ortiz for not fighting on with a broken jaw needs to realize how serious a broken jaw really is. Yes fighters have fought on with broken jaws but nobody knows the extent of the breakage. Until you have had your jaw broken, you shouldn't talk down on the guy. Not only is the pain unbearable but the slightest tap on the jaw is extruciating. Not to mention your mouth fills with blood and you swallow plenty of it. It's easy to trash the guy while sitting on your couch.

I'm gonna still watch Vic & root for him, because he is exciting to watch win, lose or draw....

Ortiz was right to take matters into his own hands and stop the fight at the right time.
Yeah i thought that was pretty f#@ked up.....the kid obviously couldn't go on...that's part of the sport.....his corner should have protected him instead of making the situation look worse.
I've broke my jaw before......it's a weird feeling....there's different types of breaks with a jaw......if you break it in a way where it feels like it's "hanging" and you cant close your mouth (which it appeared Ortiz was going thru)...I don't see how you can fight 3 more rounds like that.....I was rooting for Lopez, and was glad he won.....but I don't think Ortiz was a punk for stopping cause of an injury.

I'll just say this; Ortiz isn't the type of fighter that can battle thru adversity. He knew fighting those last 3 rounds of the fight with a broken or fractured jaw would be painful and he would rather just not deal with it knowing he can always get a rematch later.

Those saying that people shouldn't bash Ortiz for quitting should remember the Miranda - Abraham fight where Arthur fought about half the fight with his jaw visible HANGING and he was up against a very hard puncher. Ortiz fought someone who wasn't exactly the hardest hitter and the guy was moving up in weight. It all has to do with his lack of courage and his mental fragility will always be a downfall for the guy.

That being said, I'll still watch Victor because regardless of what happens, he always makes for exciting fights.

ortiz is a guy that likes to start a war, but at the end of the day he is not a warrior, and the deeper the fight gets the more he wants out.
i love a guy that never quits and wants to fight or go down swinging, but there are times where i don't mind a fighter quitting, like when cotto just couldn't handle margarito and was getting beat into submission, him taking a knee the couple times he did in that round, probably saved his career. and honestly ortiz looked like he had a broken jaw, but he could still breath and that isn't a brain type injury that will affect you long term health wise. he should have went out for the round and done his best to finish the fight asap, and if he couldn't get the ko/tko and lopez started landing lots of shots on the jaw, then yeah, maybe you got to give. but literally as soon as the jaw broke he quit, which shows the type of heart he has when he is faced with adversity. so in my opinion he is a bit of *****, and he is dirty that rabbit punch was so blatant and he does this really dirty shhit that clearly is no accident and then tries to be all friendly afterwards, after seeing that happen again, i now support how mayweather took that "cheap shot" and knocked him the fuuck out.
get a real warrior for canelo to fight.
