Barrera has HBO date for May 7

Sources close to the situation have informed ********** that junior lightweight king Marco Antonio Barrera and Golden Boy Promotions are in line to receive a May 7 HBO date. If something can be worked out for Barrera-Erik Morales IV, obviously the fight will be shown on HBO PPV, however, if Barrera makes a mandatory defense, or opts for someone other than Morales, HBO World Championship Boxing would televise. In either case, former two division champion, Acelino "Popo" Freitas is expected to appear on the co-feature against the winner of the IBF lightweight title fight between Julio Diaz and Levander Johnson.-**********.com

I think Barrera needs to stop thinking about Morales and move on with his career. It's good for the fans, bad for Marco.

Erik would beat him in a 4th match. No more taking MAB lightly. I just think he's the better fighetr of the two. But they should leave it at 3 and move on as AS said.

For the sake of his own ego, MAB should be thinking of a Pacman rematch, regardless of the result of JMM-Pacman II.

I think if Pacquiao beats Marquez, he should fight Barrera. But Barrera needs to start thinking of life after Morales. A 4th fight with Morales is as pointless as Holyfield-Tyson III.

I doubt they'll go for a fourth. Barrera has stated he didnt want it.

Erik is dying for it though.

MAB-Morales IV pointless? You can say that again... and again!

Hats off to Golden Boy for putting this one together...having MAB and Freitas and possibly Julio as well is something Arum and DK would never consider. They'd rather screw the fans around by putting, say, one of these guys against a nobody and stacking it with three lousy undercards.

I bash Oscar for years and now he just might be the guy that saves boxing...go figure.

If Pac beats Marquez, Barrera has to fight him. The public, his fans, and his fighting spirit will demand it. **** a fourth fight with Morales. Everyone can still think Morales is better, and if you do, thats your opinion. After their third fight, i dont think there should be anymore debate. Jim Lampley said it the best during that third fight "Marco Antonio Barrera is seperating himself from Erik Morales. Although I dont think Pac will beat Marquez, I sure hope he does. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
